Just finished reading issue one of Paul Grist' MudMan. Really enjoyable book. I used to love his Kane book back in the day and this looks like another winner. Anyone else pick it up?

I've had it put on my pull list after reading nothing but great reviews for it. Really looking forward to finally getting to my LCS to pick it up.

Loved it, big fan of grist since saint swithins day. Looks great if a little light on story but there is enough to suggest a lot more going on the same way he did in jack staff.

I just wish the bugger would finish one tale before going off and starting a new one - has there been a resolution to Kane or Jack Staff? I love both and would love to see more

Jack Staff doesn't pay the bills unfortunatly. If it takes launching a new book to propel him into the limelight I can live with it. Mudman brings what makes Paul Grist awesome.

Picked Mudman #1 from my box at FP Birmingham last week. When I saw Mr Grist's distinctive style jumping from the cover I thought "Yeah! New Jack Staff" (I'd not been keeping up with current events.) Once I'd got over my initial disapointment (that it wasn't Jack Staff) and delved behind the cover, I was more than happy to find the same Paul Grist gold that comes with all his work. Fun story, great storytelling and super art. I've been a fan of Paul's work since 'Kinky Boots' in the Dredd Mega Special so this one is definitely going on my pull list. It's still a shame that Jack's taking a sabattical though, the covers for the next three issues looked wonderful. Buy Mudman, support an excellent creator.

I was a big fan of both St Swithin's Day and Jack Staff, so bought this up. Paul's treatise on comics and serial fiction, I completely agree with. Trouble is....he pretty much did what he's complaining about. Nothing really happened with Mudman. There's not much back story. No real origin. It's pretty much a filler issue. Compare that Amazing Fantasy 15, where we meet Parker, get a good insight into his family life, he gains his powers, Uncle Ben dies, Spider-Man gets his raison-d'etre, plus his costume and defeats his first villain. That's a first issue.

Still, looking forward to reading more as Jack Staff was terrific.

Bought this comic without having read any other stuff by Paul Grist and i've got to say i absolutely loved it! In fact i would go as far as to say that i enjoyed it far more then any of the recent American number one issues i've bought. A nicely paced, FUN, superhero comic who would have thought it possible in this day and age. Roll on issue two.

Finally managed to get to my LCS this afternoon and picked this up. As everyone says its a wonderful comic. Simple and yet offers so much. Love the setting, which feels so real already and love the Charlie Brown costume (hope that's not just a fluke of design).

The best thing about the comic though is that amazing introduction. Says a heck of a lot about what I love about 32 pages and a pair of staples. That's the sort of attitude that a heck of a lot of creators, even some I really enjoy, could learn from.

Bloody typical. Masses of multiple issues of Legion Lost or The Ray at my local FP. None of either #1 (so they've sold out) or #2 of Mudman. Likewise, none at Page 45 - you'd have thought an indie friendly store that happily told me they sold out of #1 would have ordered #2 in. But I forgot. They don't like British comics (even British/American ones). It's US indie comics they like and Marvel/DC. It's a struggle to find anything from the UK in there outside the Granville poster in the window.

So my local British comic shops don't stock (enough of) Mudman and Strip and none of the UK's most popular comics like Beano or Commando. Yet, plenty Hawk & Dove and Legion of Monsters with unsellable back issues of, say, the JSA stretching beyond the new 52. Buying in masses of comics that don't sell, yet not buying in comics that do sell. Sounds like madness to me.

Am loving this so far. I only started collecting the Jack Staff and Kane trades a year or so back, so it was nice to see a new series so soon.

Picked up Mudman #2 last week, and to quote 'Vinny' in the strip It's "Bostin!" (That's Black Country for really good.) Fun strip, great art, what more can I say. As with Mr Grists other work (Kane, Jack Staff) I've found that unless you actually order it from your local comic shop, you'll be hard pressed to find it. As 'starscape' pointed out, with shit loads of DC/Marvel's latest Legion of X Avenger Sameoldpants weighing down the shelves, they've got no room for any homespun goodness. To those of you who haven't been able to get hold of a copy of Mudman yet, if you're near Exeter, then Paul is supposed to be attending the Comic Expo Exeter at the Rougemont Thistle Hotel on the 19th Feb 2012.
