I just finished listening to the BBC Children of the Stones series (suitably creepy and, all in all, an enjoyable way to fill my walk to work).  This was written by Guy Adams who I'm 99% sure is the Guy Adams of Hope (avec Jimmy Broxton).  This has probably been mentioned here somewhere but I'm too dim to have spotted it, probably.  Anyway, worth a listen!

The new(ish) Throwing Muses album. Really quite good and definitely getting a repeat listen tomorrow. Today’s listen was while cleaning the shower, so yay rock and roll lifestyle, me…

Excitingly, Genghis Tron are back.

Oddly they've toned down the heaviness and added vocals.  Still good though.

The soundtrack of "Blade Runner 2049" by Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch. As with the movie - I found the Elvis / Sinatra scenes / music a bit jarring but otherwise I really like this soundtrack. A good accompaniment to this is the soundtrack of "First Man" by Justin Hurwitz. And also well worth a mention, the "Blade Runner Trilogy, 25th Anniversary" Box Set which is a 3 CD Special Edition.

Kate Bush - Be Kind to my Mistakes

Nice.

Made me remember that there are more Kate Bush tracks worth listening to than the dozen or so highlights on my regular playlists. She's fucking awesome.

The Smiths - How Soon is Now

Awesome stuff. Never can go wrong with The Smiths. I actually got to this song thru The Wolf Among US where the music cue is so damn similar. (I am talking about Puddin n Pie strip club).

New Lukhash came out the other day and I've got that on repeat.
The volume of synthwave stuff coming out means there's a lot of generally alright stuff, but this album stands out for me. Here's an uplifting cut from the album.

I'm also listening to loads of Bolt Thrower.

At their best they were absolutely unfuckwittable.

I'd say Far Beyond Driven is my fave by them with Vulgar Display and Trendkill in joint second.

Have to say, one of my least favourite bands. Their influence on heavy metal was so huge and so negative, popularising downtuned riffing and general meatheadedness that took decades to bleed out of the scene.

That aside there's some absolute bangers on that trio of Driven / Vulgar / Trendkill. Trendkill I think is their finest album: it isn't as catchy, but it's nasty in a way the others don't come close to.
