2000 AD rocked the SFX Weekender with its official 35th birthday celebrations and special guests of honour, John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra!

The co-creators of Judge Dredd signed at the 2000 AD booth for over two hours, with almost 200 people going away happy with autographed books, t-shirts and collectibles – including a replica Lawgiver! Hundreds also turned out for their panel, at which they talked about Dredd, Strontium Dog and the new Dredd movie!

The pair were also officially recognised in the SFX Magazine awards ceremony on the Saturday night with 'Lifetime Achievement' awards for their creation of the Lawman of the Future.

Script droids Al Ewing and Andy Diggle were also on hand over the weekend to sign copies of their work at what was a great event and a truly fitting way to celebrate 35 years of Thrill-power. Massive thanks to all the fans who turned out and especially those who made the official birthday party on the Friday, which was even graced by Tharg the Mighty himself!

Excellent! A well-deserved honour!

Wish I could have been there - it sounds like a great gig. Still, there's also the 35th Anniversary event at the Cardiff Comic Expo and I expect that the good folks at Hi-Ex will do something similar!

Emperor

A well deserved accolade - they are British comics royalty and stars all round.

Also a reminder that Carlos is up for the Eisner Hall of Fame this year and all comics pros can vote for him:

He was really pleased to be nominated (especially given the strength of the field) but he does deserve a win.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Well deserved accolade for both titans of comics-and long overdue, in my opinion.

Let's hope the Eagles recognise these two great talents too!

That is quite strange, they get the award for the short lived comic in the 90's and not for the Judge Dredd stories in 2000 AD or the Megazine  ;)
