According to the Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/filmblog/2012/feb/24/michael-fassbender-celtic-cuchulain?intcmp=ILCMUSTXT9386

Especially stoked for this bit: "Cuchulain is depicted as a fearsome warrior who in times of conflict would warp into a terrifying battle frenzy, or ríastrad, in which he would become unrecognisable and slay friends and enemies alike"

As I'm an uncharitable git I'll say what a bloody rip off.  :( Still we've only had Slaine for -ahem-how long? ::) I hope there are Formorians in it.
The Justice department has a good re-education programme-it's called five to ten in the cubes.

that's what wiki's for, but you could do worse that start here: http://paddybrown.co.uk/?p=179

What's a Cuchulain?
An ancient Irish hero who used his time-travelling soup pot to leap forward to the mid eighties and rip off Pat Mills.

If Fassbender gets his boaby out in fifty scenes, I wont think it too many.
We never really die.

I was thinking that, but then he must have known that someone could have basically produced a Slaine film without having to option it by drawing on the original legends of Cuchulain. The real shame is that this will effectively kill a Slaine film off, but the longer you hang around the more likely it is you'll get gazzumped and a Slaine film should have been made years ago.

I'm unsure if this is a joke or not.  :-[

QuoteHe is known for his terrifying battle frenzy or ríastrad,[3] (translated by Thomas Kinsella as "warp spasm"[4] and by Ciaran Carson as "torque")[5] in which he becomes an unrecognisable monster who knows neither friend nor foe.

...

After one particularly arduous combat Cú Chulainn lies severely wounded, but is visited by Lug, who tells him he is his father and heals his wounds. When Cú Chulainn wakes up and sees that the boy-troop of Emain Macha have attacked the Connacht army and been slaughtered, he has his most spectacular ríastrad yet:

Quote"   The first warp-spasm seized Cúchulainn, and made him into a monstrous thing, hideous and shapeless, unheard of. His shanks and his joints, every knuckle and angle and organ from head to foot, shook like a tree in the flood or a reed in the stream. His body made a furious twist inside his skin, so that his feet and shins switched to the rear and his heels and calves switched to the front... On his head the temple-sinews stretched to the nape of his neck, each mighty, immense, measureless knob as big as the head of a month-old child... he sucked one eye so deep into his head that a wild crane couldn't probe it onto his cheek out of the depths of his skull; the other eye fell out along his cheek. His mouth weirdly distorted: his cheek peeled back from his jaws until the gullet appeared, his lungs and his liver flapped in his mouth and throat, his lower jaw struck the upper a lion-killing blow, and fiery flakes large as a ram's fleece reached his mouth from his throat... The hair of his head twisted like the tange of a red thornbush stuck in a gap; if a royal apple tree with all its kingly fruit were shaken above him, scarce an apple would reach the ground but each would be spiked on a bristle of his hair as it stood up on his scalp with rage.   "
—Thomas Kinsella (translator), The Táin, Oxford University Press, 1969, pp. 150-153

He attacks the army and kills hundreds, building walls of corpses.

Could do:

QuoteDuring his time abroad, Cú Chulainn had rescued Derbforgaill, a Scandinavian princess, from being sacrificed to the Fomorians.

...

Cú Chulainn has many lovers, but Emer's only jealousy comes when he falls in love with Fand, wife of Manannán mac Lir. Manannán has left her and she has been attacked by three Fomorians who want to control the Irish Sea. Cú Chulainn agrees to help defend her as long as she marries him.
