CROSSED BADLANDS #8 Any ideas how long Lapham's arc for will be? If he is taking over as regular writer for an extended run Stevie most probabl;y will be dropping this.

Mr Previews says that Dave Hine shall be taking the reins as of Crossed #14. Stevie'll be shaving some of that.

For thsi week he'll be having

ACTION COMICS #11
ANIMAL MAN #11
BOYS #68
DIAL H #3
FURY MAX #4
NINJETTES #5
RED LANTERNS #11
STORMWATCH  #11
"We'll send all these nasty words to Aunt Jane. Don't you think that would be fun?"

Davek

Naff all for me this week - cancelled Popeye for the kids as they didnt seem to be enjoying it.  Thought about getting The Muppets for them but they get The Phoenix every week now so decided to give it a miss.

NEW COMICS SHIPPING THE WEEK OF 07-11-12

My Pulls
2000 AD #1784
2000 AD #1785
2000 AD #1786 - The end of Nikolia Dante starts here. The final prog of its run has already shipped in the UK. Sure to be an epic conclusion to an epic series. I am sad to see it go, and glad that it got a proper planned ending. Like any truly great sage should have. There's nothing else like Nikolia Dante.
BLACKSAD: SILENT HELL HC - NEW BLACKSAD GN!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
JUDGE DREDD MEGAZINE #324
LEGION LOST #11 - Book feels like its got some direction, I really want to love this book. I love the Legion. Pete Woods's art keeps me warm at night.
PLANETOID #2 - I read the first issue digitally ages ago, then reread it when it came out in print. Can't wait to finally read issue 2.
PUNK ROCK JESUS #1 - Couldn't find a good preview of this. Picking it up entirely based on Sean Gordon Murphy (Joe the Barbarian) being the writer/artist. I don't do that very often. Hope its good.
RESURRECTION MAN #11 - Two more issues until cancelled. Sad to see it go, it was generally pretty solid.
SAUCER COUNTRY #5 - Still liking this series a lot. Its different, and looks real good too.
THE MASSIVE #2 - First issue was a lot better then the prequel story in DHP. Really looking forward to issue 2.
THE SHADE #10 - Coming down to the end of this Maxi-Series. James Robinson's still got it.
THE WALKING DEAD #100 - You know, I think The Walking Dead might be the FIRST comic I've ever reached issue 100 on starting at issue #1. I know I started reading Fables at issue 6, Savage Dragon at 90, Invincible isn't there yet (my second?). Yup, first comic I ever started at issue #1, and reached issue 100 without ever dropping it. That means its doing something right. Because I have no qualms with cutting the fat when its necessarily.

I'll chance my arm on Enormous & Wild Children this week.

Punk Rock Jesus for me this week.  No experience of Murphy's work before - the preview pages I have seen look amazing though.  The premise sounds slightly odd but I think it could be good.

#170
On top of an already big week for me, I'm suddenly interested in Transformers: Regenesis from IDW. Not sure why, I have no affinity with Transformers comics or otherwise (except Beast Wars. Beast Wars owns) But there's something kinda old-school about it that's got my attention. And that 100-page one-shot reprint to get you primed for it... that makes getting into it easy...

Man, I do not know.

EDIT: You know, I do like Simon Furman. Maybe that's why I'm attracted to the title.

Lets see...

2000ad: what more can I say thats been said at this point. Dante ends

walking dead 100: I have heard what happens...its grim...its nasty and its a hell of a way to celebrate the 100th episode. Will say no more than that

The shade 10: this is only being bought due to starman nostalgia at this point

Demon knights 11: yay! I love this series as my dc pile dwindles due to my hatred of the changes this one stays.

Uk reprints

Batman: I hate, hate, hate batwoman but snyders owls stuff more than makes up for it. apparently getting a new number 1 due to the film coming...wish they would drop batwoman and reprint simones batgirl

x-men: I have to admit when I was sixteen I only ever bought two comics. 2000ad and this...I dunno if its just me finding it hard to let go but I can never stop buying it. Anyway we're halfway through that stupid story where some of the x-men are infected by vampire blood and blade has an extended appearance.

O Lucky Stevie!

2000 AD #1784 & # 1785 plus MEG 324 but... ermmm, no show on PROG 1786.

May we have a lil stabby emoticon pls?

Also for Stevie this week;

SWAMP THING #11
BULLETPROOF COFFIN DISINTERRED #6
CROSSED BADLANDS #9
GARTH ENNIS JENNIFER BLOOD #14
STITCHED #6
(have noticed that Garth Ennis is now being credited for the "original story" whilst the script itself is  by  artist Mike Wolfer. As was the arrangement for the later series of Warren Ellis's STRANGE KILLINGS. So looks like this one shall be getting the chop to make room for JENNIFER BLOOD: FIRST BLOOD from the quill a certain Mr Carroll of this manor).

Oh, & on a whim as it looked mighty purdy & Stevie's still feeling generous after The Doctor's Wife

STITCHED #6[/b] (have noticed that Garth Ennis is now being credited for the "original story" whilst the script itself is  by  artist Mike Wolfer.

I think that's been the case since the third or fourth issue. Ennis seems to be pretty busy these days!

Colin YNWA

Hadn't been to my nerd shop for a few weeks so had a big stash, but strangely a lot of them seemed a bit flat (or maybe I was tired when reading them?).

Action Comics, Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Batwing, Resident Alien, All Star Western, Resurrection Man, Earth 2 were all fine, just not quite on par with the excellent issues of late.

Frankenstein was great fun and Batman was rollicking. JLI was possibly the most fin its been to date (alas just before it finishes) and Rocketeer Adventures was a lovely mix.

Neither Batman Inc nor Creator Owned Comics were as good as their first issues, unlike The Massive which was was just plain fantastic, possibly the best thing in this bunch. Popeye was back on top form and Green Arrow seems to have got some good upward momentum, really feeling like a good Nocenti book now. Oh and Spaceman was good but I'm looking forward to reading this in one go.

I've got the first trade of Fatale (and issue 6) but I'm taking them away with me on a brief break to the seaside over the next few days.

NEW COMICS SHIPPING THE WEEK OF 07-18-12

MY PULLS
DARK HORSE PRESENTS #14 - 103 pages, still just $8 Bucks! Best deal in comics! And premier of Doc Shaner's Buddy Cops! Been looking forward to that for a LONG time.
EXTERMINATION #2 - Really dig the set up on this one (Post-Apoc Super-Heroes) and Si Spurrier is reliable if anything.
FABLES #119 - This story arc is really turning up the creepy factor. Mark Buckingham is really showing off.
LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #11 - Still my favorite super team in comics, even if this particular series has been kinda bubbling along without much energy or threat. Time for Levitz to step away I think, lets get some fresh blood on board. Like Hickman, or Bedard, or hell bring DnA back!
SAGA #5 - The previous issue was one of the most amazing single issues of 2012. Lets see if it can keep up the momentum. The Will might be my favorite character right now in comics.

Read Fatale while I've been away for the last few days issue 6 and the first trade and I loved it. Great fun and intrigued to see where it goes.

Mardroid

#177
I'm not sure this counts as it's comic volumes rather than individual pieces but I got the following from the library today:

Sweet Tooth: In Captivity - I've seen this advertised in the New 52 comics I've bought and seen a couple of positive reviews. I understand this is actually the second volume (I couldn't find the first in the library) but  the 'Story so far...' bit at the start has filled me in. An strange interesting premise....

The Losers: Book One
The Losers: Book Two
. - I've seen it advertised on this forum too and it's interesting to see a familiar creators! To be honest, I'm not sure the premise is my thing...* but I thought I'd give it a go.

As far as individual comics are concerned I continue to pull 2000 AD and the Meg (of course) and Animal Man, Swamp Thing, All Star Western, and Frankenstein Agent of Shade**. All digital. Oh and I buy back issues of Clint and Strip, but I'm behind there. I actually bought issue 14 of Clint at FP, but am missing issue 13. I'll probably order it online.

I'm pretty much enjoying them all, although I've yet to start the library volumes having only borrowed them today.

*I'm getting rather biassed towards sci-fi and supernatural stuff in my reading. It's actually probably a good idea to branch out more.

** I'm not sure how long I'll continue with this one. It's not bad but I feel much more drawn to the others.

SmallBlueThing

We appear to be reading similar things at the moment, mardroid. Though im dropping Allstar Western as it's doing nothing for me, and Frankenstein is a highlight of my month- the new writer guy has brought it back to the style of the first four issues, and i hope it continues long enough to grow a big readership.

Im starting Animal Man as of this month, but that's purely from a Swamp Thing completist point of view rather than any particular love of the animal man character. He turns up in swampy #11 and my question is, does swampy appear at all in animal man #11, even in a single panel?

I also pick up wonder woman, which is so good i cant imagine a month without it. And if you'd've told me that a year ago, i'd've laughed in your face. Wonder woman? What do you take me for?!

The night force limited series is nearing its end, and has been okay- but not so much that im crying out for a regular book. And im a huge fan of the previous volumes.

I gave up on Dial H after the first issue, not being (cont)
.

SmallBlueThing

(cont) able to face a regular china mieville series. Nothing against the man, and i loved his first few novels, but these days find him unreadable. Everything i wanted to know about dial h was there in the first ish, so i feel im done with it.

Otherwise, im buying walking dead (floppies since #85, due to lack of patience) and keep dipping my toes back into the spider titles, but honestly prefer to pick them up as trades.

And swamp thing. Always swamp thing. Tonight, in fact, i have the delight of batman #521 and 522- in which bats goes up against killer croc (my fave batso villain) and swampy- written by doug moench and drawn by kelley jones. I knew nothing of this up to a week or so ago, so im quite excited!
