As it celebrates three and a half decades of some of the greatest comics of all time, 2000 AD is unleashing a flurry of top-notch thrills in graphic novel form into North America this year.

The Galaxy's Greatest Comic has lined up a sizzling schedule of new releases, collecting classic and new strips alike in the year its biggest export, Judge Dredd, heads for the big screen with Karl Urban as the Lawman of the Future in Dredd.

It's shaping up to be an epic year for US releases from the seminal British title, with work from writers such as Grant Morrison, Mark Millar, John Wagner, Pat Mills and Ian Edginton, and artwork from Brian Bolland, Chris Weston, Steve Dillon, Dave Gibbons, D'Israeli and many more!

This month, the Celtic barbarian Sláine returns with the first volume in one of the most breathtaking fantasy series ever. Sláine: Book of Invasions 1 (ISBN: 9781907992681 US $19.99/ Canada $22.99) sees Pat Mills' axe-wielding hero begin an epic quest, with 122 pages of visceral work from award-winning artist Clint Langley. Once the first High King of Ireland, Sláine must protect his tribe against a new tide of evil. In the astonishing and fresh follow-up to the critically-acclaimed Sláine: The Horned God, Langley's full color hyper-real art will blow you away!

In April, on the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, a very different voyage sets sail. Leviathan (ISBN: 9781907992698 US $16.99/Canada $19.99) is a gargantuan steampunk murder mystery from the partnership behind Scarlet Traces - Ian Edington (Victorian Undead) and D'Israeli (SVK). It is 1928 and the world's largest ocean-liner disappears on its maiden voyage to New York. It drifts for 20 years on a desolate limbo ocean, but when murders begin aboard ship, Detective Sergeant Lament must delve into the ship's depths to discover the root of its mysteries. This is a stunning story by two massive talents and not to be missed.

One of the all-time classics in the 2000 AD pantheon, the first US collection of Rogue Trooper lands in May. Rogue Trooper: Tales of Nu Earth 01 (ISBN: 9781907992704 US $19.99/Canada $22.99) features 400 pages of future war action! Created by Gerry Finley- Day and Dave Gibbons (Watchmen), Rogue Trooper roams Nu-Earth, the last of the Genetic Infantrymen. On planet ravaged by war, its atmosphere poisoned by the endless war between the Norts and the Southers, Rogue searches for the general who betrayed his blue-skinned brethren at the Quartz Zone Massacre.

Another classic from Judge Dredd arrives in June. Judge Dredd: Complete Case Files 05 (ISBN: 978-1781080283 US $19.99/Canada $22.99) features three of the all-time greatest Dredd stories ever - Judge Death, Block War and The Apocalypse War! The fifth volume in this hit series, collecting together Dredd's most exciting cases, features art by such comic legends as Brian Bolland (Batman: The Killing Joke), Carlos Ezquerra and Mike McMahon and written by John Wagner (A History of Violence) and Alan Grant (Lobo)!

Judges have the toughest job on the mean streets of Mega-City One, but they're only human. So when one of their number chooses to cross over the line, the toughest lawman of them all, Judge Dredd, dishes out extreme justice! Judge Dredd: When Judges Go Bad (ISBN: 9781781080290 US $17.99/Canada $19.99) hits stores in June with comic book legends John Wagner and Mark Millar presenting tales of crimefighting corruption, with art from Chris Weston (The Twelve), Will Simpson (Legends of the Dark Knight), Dave Taylor (Batman & Superman: World's Finest), Greg Staples (Wizards Of The Coast), Nick Percival (Legends: The Enchanted) and Paul Marshall (Firekind).

And in July, corruption comes home to roost thanks to the pens of Grant Morrison and Mark Millar! Driven insane on the harsh penal colony on Titan, ex-Judge Grice aches for revenge on Judge Dredd and, in Judge Dredd: Inferno (ISBN: 978-1781080719 US $19.99/Canada $22.99) he returns to Mega-City One with an army of renegade prisoners, hell bent on unleashing a deadly virus.

And in August, meet Johnny Alpha - mutant bounty hunter for hire! Another classic from 2000 AD and the creative team behind Judge Dredd, in Strontium Dog: Mutant for Hire (ISBN: 9781781080313 US $19.99/Canada $22.99) Britain is gripped by the aftermath of the Atomic War of 2150 and mutated humans are driven into poverty-stricken ghettos. The only job available to them – bounty hunting. One such Search/Destroy agent is Johnny Alpha. Armed with the latest hi-tech weaponry and a burning hatred for the father who abandoned him, Johnny has a score to settle and nobody will get in his way...

With action-packed art from Steve Dillon (Preacher), Judge Dredd: Cry of the Werewolf (ISBN: 9781781080320 US $17.99/Canada $19.99) is out in September. Beneath the gleaming towers of Mega-City One is the post-apocalyptic ashes of New York – the 'Undercity'. From this hellhole emerges an unexpected foe – a flesh-eating werewolf – which finds its way out into Mega-City One. Judge Dredd must enter the Undercity to investigate, ensuring that no others can make their way to the surface. This collection includes four fantastic Dredd-world werewolf stories!

Presumably that's Cry of the Werewolf and its sequel, Out of the Undercity. Struggling to think of what the other two could be - the wording makes it sound like they might be non-Dredd but still Dreddworld-set stories...

Possibly one of them is "Descent"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undercity_(Judge_Dredd)#Important_Undercity_stories

Gordon is listed as one of the authors over on S&S' site:

http://books.simonandschuster.com/Judge-Dredd-Cry-of-the-Werewolf/Alan-Grant/9781781080320

The wording there though might suggest they aren't all Undercity stories but the theme is werewolves: "Plus three other Dredd-verse werewolf stories." However, other non-Undercity Dredd werewolf stories currently elude me.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Saw this was picked up over at 'The Beat' the other day. Nice to see over 'major' US comics news sites getting hold of this stuff not just CBR. All progress.

Which has a slightly different cover to the S&S site which might give the clues to the stories:

Writers: John Wagner, Alan Grant, Gordon Rennie and Robbie Morrison
Artists: Steve Dillon, Leigh Gallagher, Carl Critchlow and Frazer Irving

That would suggest the stories are:

"Cry of the Werewolf" by Wagner/Grant/Dillon in 2000 AD #322-328
"Out of the Undercity" by Wagner/Critchlow in 2000 AD #1313-1316
"Dog Soldiers" by Morrison/Gallagher in Megs #293-294

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand "Asylum" by Rennie/Irving in Meg #4.05? To the pile of old Megs...

I send *all* our US press releases to around 40 comics blogs and websites, but usually CBR and Broken Frontier are the only ones who use them. Heidi has been promising to do more on 2000 AD, to be fair, and we're planning on doing some previews soon.

Wow given some of the stuff that Newsarama runs you'd think they'd be snappin' ya hands off for stuff like this!

Maybe next time you need to bill at as Top Ten new titles form 2000ad. It'll be run every other weekend then.
