I approve, with the usual trepidation about sequels. As long as it doesn't love itself too much (possibly not a problem in this case) or suffer from "too many stars", as they are now since the first one, it should be good.
NEGOTIATION'S OVER!

I dunno. ANCHORMAN is ok but it ain't all that.

And Will Ferrell got quite dull very quickly.
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

Ghastly McNasty

First time I saw Anchorman I thought it was awful. Then for some reason I saw it again and noticed the genius. I don't hold high hopes for a sequel but I'm interested.

With Goaty block all the waaaaaay! Brick is to weather reporting as to IM Global is to promoting Dredd.

Fantastic news!

There is already a sequel of sorts 'Wake Up Ron Burgandy which is made out of outtakes and unused subplots. It actually holds together pretty well and had plenty of laughs and includes a distressing scene where Champ Kind professes his love for Ron while Brick and Brian shift awkwardly in their seat.

I bought 'Sex Panther' after shave (£30!) from Firebox and will buy any tat this long awaited treat throws at me.

My wife loves Will Ferrell, but beyond his usual funny schtick it wears thin quickly.  Ron Burgandy's genius is the other characters in his crew, the other news crews, the send up of the 70's, the sexism. Its almost pastiche....

Ah well we will have to disagree Tips
"They tried and failed, all of them?"
"Oh, no." she shook her head "They tried and died"
Mostly Sarcastic & flippant

Watched the original many years ago, and didn't really like it - maybe i wasnt in the right mood. Someone gave me  the DVD a while ago so I should give it another go.

There are many comedies out there that don't make me laugh but the writing and production is incredible. Napoleon Dynamite. Clerks. Withnail and I (anymore) are just this brand of humour. A feeling that they get it and going about it the way they do gets them laughing and that I can agree on. Anchorman, sends up so many things within it, it's going to be difficult to follow it to new frontiers.

They could possibly try televangelism or move their musical/scifi mishmash fight scenes from Westside story and Star-trek versus Starwars, to Cats and 80's greek mythos film versus their contemporaneous remakes?

After watching it on Wednesday night again after feeling like subliminal advertising for it had gotten in under the radar as I'd been hankering for a watch of it some 50 hours before finding out it was on on BBC3(/2?) conveniently, I thought the jokes held up well and that I am still unsurprised it didn't make me laugh. Clever stuff though.
"bULLshit Mr Hand man!"

is it me... or does Conan O'Brien look like a grown up Beavis (from Beavis and Butt-head)
You ever notice that everyone who believes in creationism looks really unevolved? Eyes real close together, big furry hands and feet. "I believe God created me in one day." Yeah, looks like he rushed it.

I absolutely love Anchorman - bonkers fun!

I did like some of the rest of his crew. I find Steve Carrell pretty good in most things - don't know why but he makes me laugh. And I'm pretty sure he shouldn't as he's not normally my kind of thing.

I think I was predisposed not to like it because it's one of those films that attracts such a cult following you can feel a little out of the loop and take against it if you're late to the party. I also felt it was kinda self-indulgent and a bit too self-conciously 'wacky', but as I say I probably wasn't in the right frame of mind.

I'd recommend Crazy, Stupid, Love if you haven't seen it - it's not gonna change the world, but I really enjoyed it. Carrell does play a very similar role to his one in 40 Year Old Virgin, but it's a gentle and genuinely funny rom-com - not many of those around!
