I publish this bloody brilliant comic called PARAGON and within it's pages is a character called Jikan - a time-travelling demon-hunting samurai.
I've several scripts in (mainly 8 pagers) which are crying out for good artists to have a crack at.

So if you can match or better these pictures

and would like to contribute, give me a shout!

hi

reading your 2000ad thread on your PARAGON series I will be more than happy to offer my art services .As an 18 year old aspiring illustrator, living in the midlands has offered few and far between in terms of experience, leaving only my own writing skills to illustrate.what arttracts me most is the samurai theme as i recently spent my year producing my A Level art coursework on japnaese art and an illustrated essay on artisitc interpretations of the samurai.however i am now in my final week of exams so i will hope to send some artwork within the next week if it is not too late.but for general pointers:

my comic book work is most similar to:
takehiko inoue
mike perkins
michael lark
alex maleev

and my general illustration style is similar to :
drew struzan
jaques monory
dave mckean (covers)
yoji shinkawa

Hi Daveycandlish
I'd be up for doing something, i've done some work with my bud CrazyFoxMachine here on Dr WTF and am contributing to Dogbreath later this year.
I'll be looking for a new project in a few weeks and I'm eager to test my action metal and this looks like fun.
here's a link to my latest piece that you might like, also in the Does My Art Look Big In This? thread:

Hi Davey,

I read some of the digital Paragons recently, and enjoyed them a lot.

What are you talking in terms of deadlines? I'd really love to contribute something at some point (pending your approval, naturally - links on my profile blurb stuff), but I don't really think I can look at taking anything on now much before September... ish...

Cheers!

DoomBot

Hey Davey,

You've seen plenty of my work recently. If you think I meet your high standards, give me a shout. Although 8 pages is a bit of a stretch, 4-5 would be more manageable. But there again, if the deadline is far enough away....

Skullmo

Do you do the lettering?

I would give it a go. Do you print or publish online?
It's a joke. I was joking.

Daveycandlish

I have a number of quality letterers who contribute their talents so there's no need to worry over that score.
I've published recent issues via lulu.com in both print and e-versions (the digital version is much cheaper, as it should be!)

Do you have any work online I can see Skullmo? Or you can email me samples at

let's see what you can do  :)

Well it's been about six months so can those folk who were given scripts (and haven't been in touch) let me know how you are getting on?
If the others who didn't get a script would still like to join the gang, give me a shout and if there are any others out there (and I know there have been a few new arrivals to these boards in recent months) who would like to show off their wares - let's see what you've got!

One of the regular artists has dropped out unfortunately so I have a number of scripts up for grabs - so who wants in?

A tip for dealing with small press and indy artists is that we need to be shouted at constantly and not just a few weeks before the deadline hits.  We really don't mind it when you ask how we're getting on with months until deadline as it reminds us we actually have to be doing something other than playing Soldiers online and wanking all day - which is literally all that artists will do every day if given half a chance, which is why small press artists are so slow compared to professionals.  Knackered wrists.

Hey Davey,

I'm still up for something - let me know if you've got anything spare.

Regarding chasing artists:

I've started sending a monthly mass email to all artists on the books with active scripts giving them a deadline reminder and asking them to let me know of any issues. So far it seems to be working, so far...

CrazyFoxMachine

Same here. Monthly progress digests, and being chatty with everyone throughout really works! Only two artists of my fourteen have gone AWOL - which is incredibly good odds really.

Thanks Bolt and CFM - I appreciate the advice, I'll do that (although the being chatty stuff I find hard - even when typing on this forum (my internet home!) I rarely type more than two sentences! ::))
