Its in the cinema next week
I'm going Wednesday

BEYOND excited.

Was actually taken to see this as a six year old and still vividly remember that head coming out the bottom of the boat. Got the film on special edition dvd but still.... how often do you get a chance to see a classic like this on the big screen

Tiplodocus

Think I shall also visit.
The Dvd was one of the first I bought and was pretty shiny and new so goodness knows how they've cleaned it up even more for the bluray.
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

:o

Now that does explain a lot.  I can just about imagine watching it at home at a tender age, but in the cinema... wow.

It was also the first DVD I ever bought, for my then-future missus (a mega fan), some time before we owned a DVD player.

COMMANDO FORCES

I went to see that at the ABC with my brother and took the piss out of him for ages afterwards for jumping at that scene

I'll be taking the Mrs to see this, she absolutely loves Jaw. Tordelback, everyone of a certain age (say 30 to 35) proberly saw Jaws before there were 10  :)  And loved it for the same reasons they love the Prog  :D  bluemeanie is in good company :P

Bloody hell, as I did recording signed version of Jaws in studio few weeks ago, it classic film! My favourite scene of Jaws always this;

Really 2nd half of Jaws is best, as you never get many finest scenes with three great actors! That Quint's speech was memorable!

No doubt, I'm just struck by the idea of taking a 6 year old to see it in the cinema...  speaking as the co-owner/operator of such a creature, it's not a prospect that would appeal.

Aye i see what your saying I wouldn't 0f taken any of my nippers at 6 either. My mum did bring home Rambo first blood part 2 for me to watch when I was 8, parents of that generation must of been a bit mental.

Am I the only one who thought back in the day that Jaws was an enjoyable boys own adventure film in the style of Raiders rather than a roller-coaster of scares and elemental maritime leviathan horror the way everyone seems to talk about it?

SmallBlueThing

It's my youngest's favourite film- and has been since he was five. He's seven now, and watches it any chance he gets.

Yes, i'd definitely put it in the 'raiders' box as an 'exciting adventure'. Like 'raiders' it's also educational- my boy has developed an abiding passion for sharks and other marine life, due to 'jaws', and cant sleep without his cuddly sharks- in a similar way that we all fell in love with nazis through 'raiders'.

If it comes near us next week, we'll be there. As it is, next tuesday we should be off to a double of 'the giant gila monster' and 'the killer shrews'.

Yeah, they couldnt even claim ignorance - they went on their own the week before

Still love reminding them about that when they either give me the "Why dont you like more NICE things?" speech or give my brother shit for letting his kids watch stuff like Harry Potter which they claim is too scary for his 6 year old

Out of all my school friends at that time, i was the only one who didnt get to see it in the cinema, and i was desperate to see it. In fact, my mother told me a big fib (that i wasnt old enough) to get out of taking me. Im over it now...  :(
It looks to have scrubbed up well - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLWvXaeDzwU so a trip to the piccies might be in order.

Ooh that really does look nice, and it's nice to hear that Spielberg has repented of his earlier 'restoration' crimes.

If it surfaces anywhere near us there is zero chance of us not going, it's my wife's favourite film by a large margin. A rather nice (if inexplicably Brody-less and poorly scaled) model of the Orca with Quint just-about-halfway-in looms over the marital bed, an entire shelf of gory shark books graces the living room, and back in the monied days our lives were punctuated by endless trips to shark-hosting aquaria.  However, despite being an excellent swimmer she generally refuses to swim in the sea...

Taking the kids probably isn't going to happen... I've just spent a year teaching the eldest to swim, not having that undone in a single evening.

Now if only he can convince his good friend George to do the same...

Saw this today with the Mrs. Great stuff :) if you have never seen it on the big screen it's well worth a look.
