Never rub another mans rhubarb

All very cool - was packed CF was on official duties acting as usher with another judge... Also both of us had a little natter with Alex Garland, who was great.

Will post a bit more later...

Went to the Dredd panel, very good. They showed a new clip from the start of the film to establish Dredd as a character and the Judges in general. I won't divulge the details of the whole scene but very good. Dredd resolving a hostage situagtion. Dark, gritty and bloody, with a bit of very dry Dredd humour. Very Wagner Dredd in vibe. The panel was good all seem very versed in the world of Dredd. Karl Urban very convincing, seems a genuine fan (although maybe only in his youth) mentioned gening up on current Dredd by reading Origins, Deadman and Necropolis. Was talk of sequels if film grosses 50mil in the us. Alex Garland gave summary of sequel films if they progress. No2 a Cursed Earth Origins type story. No 3 Dark Judges. He wanted the 1st film to be a set up film to establish the world of Dredd and Charactar. Will be cert 18 in the UK, rated R in the US. So may limit the 50mil golden number? Confirmed the helmet stays on all through the film. Role on 07/09/2012 !!

Looking forward to it Steve thanks.

So Darren m, a cursed Earth / Origins story sounds pretty sweet to me and to be honest I think thats the way they should go. Hopefully we will see Rico in the next one and Spikes Harvey Rotten (?) who knows lets just hope the 50 million USD is reached first.

CF was also asked by the PR bod to stay facing front - never seen a man so torn...

Yeah I think you are right build the story slowly by establishing the character. Also forgot to mention Jock created a full comic of the script for the team to refer to and did production design. I wonder if the comic will be published?

Pretty sure Molch-R has said there won't be.

Anyway, back home again after stalking the two judges all day with the camera.

It was a big convention - probably 2xKapow.

Queues were long, but moved pretty quickly considering.

The judges got stopped more times than I can remember for photos, something in the British psyche about wanting to be beaten up by men in leather...

The panel was great, there were loads of people filming it (apart from the clip, where the sentence would be death by Burdis), but it looked great from the 5 mins or so that was shown. I don't want to go into it more than that.

It was a packed room, and rattled through a Q+A by the host, there were only a handful of questions at the end, so no time for any awkward ones about the Raid, but I imagine the panel (apart from that one bit) will be up on youtube.

Primarily a celeb-signing/photo production line con, but it was good value to get in - and talks running through the day.

Cheers Steve. I think that explains the Elmundo Block / Hottie House shot in the trailer.

Here's another report on the panel

and this is CM with Urban.

Hang on, did I read that right CF? You were there at the screening, but could not see the clip? Jimp's luck.

:D :) :| :o :( :'(

That photo must be a fake. For sure its Urban posing with a cardboard promo board of CF.

Wasn't that in reference to an actual comic adaptation rather than Jock's storyboard/strip?

Steve Green

From what I remember, and I may be wrong it was said that the storyboards weren't really suitable as a strip, or something along those lines?

Even if it wasn't I think it would be a nice idea for a Megazine floppy, just as an interesting piece of work in itself.

I spoke to Jock briefly after the Q+A but didn't ask him about it unfortunately...

I think so.

It would be nice to package it with the DVD/Blu-ray.

Emperor

Just saw this photograph - you first think it is nice that the Judges posed with fans (rather than beating them ruthlessly as CF proposes), then you read his sign and feel a bit bad, then you read the comment he added and all is OK again.

OH that has got me excited.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

COMMANDO FORCES

I reckon that me and David had way over 500 pictures taken of us today. 99% were beating people up. During this time we pushed the Film, the Prog, Judge Minty and Planet Replicas

I was pleasantly surprised at how many knew about Judge Minty and were desperate to see it.
On the prog front, it was the same old story, I read it years ago. So I launched in with the destruction of Mega-City One to try and entice these wayward folk back!
Planet Replicas, we had one American bloke who lives here seriously thinking about buying one and his knowledge of Dredd was superb. He was thinking about a Lunar Marshall uniform!
The DREDD film, well the panel was FULL.
