It's could happens...

While Marvel and DC were busy revealing their upcoming plans at San Diego's Comic-Con, one of the superhero stories of the weekend came from elsewhere, with Dwayne Johnson confirming that he's currently in talks to play DC character, Lobo.

"Rumours of me possibly playing LOBO are true," said The Rock via his official Twitter account. "Joel Silver and Brad Peyton working on it now. That could be fun..."

Lobo is an alien mercenary who began life as one of DC's major villains, before the stable gradually re-cast him as a kind of badass anti-hero with a penchant for motorbikes. Chances are, that's the version that the big-screen adaptation will be working from.

As mentioned by Johnson in his tweet, Brad Peyton is currently occupying the director's chair, having previously worked with the action star on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. Nothing has officially been announced as yet, but things certainly appear to be moving forward.

If it does happen, it certainly looks like a juicy role for Johnson, with Lobo's name translating into colourful reading in his native tongue (he's a Czarnian, don't you know?): "he who devours your entrails and thoroughly enjoys it." Nice.

Professor Bear

One of the few characters who literally needs no translation into a cinematic version: a tough bloke on a motorbike who fights other tough blokes, only in space.  The character is pretty much an archetype lone wolf brawler, I don't see why this couldn't happen yesterday.

My only thought would be that I gather Lobo's supposed to be thick as pigshit and a total jerk, while the Rock is effortlessly likeable in almost every role he's ever been in.

Lobo = Beetlejuice. Get a bulked up Michael Keaton to play him!

You know what you have that spot on lol i'd loved to see that on film
loveforstitch - Does he fall in love? I like a little romance in all my movies.

Rekaert - Yes, he demonstrates it with bullets, punches and sentencing.

He's Mega City 1's own Don Juan.

The Rock is Czarnian?
I've only seen two Lobo stories. My favourite was his outing in Ennis' 'Hitman' ('able to talk total crap in a vacuum')

Supposedly the current version of the script floating about has Lobo teaming up with a young girl for a youth-friendly tale. If true this does not bode well...
Check out my new comic Supermom: Expecting Trouble and see how a pregnant superhero tries to deal with the fact that the baby's father is her archnemesis. Free preview pack including 12 pages of art: http://www.mediafire.com/file/57986rnlgk0itfz/Supermom_Preview_Pack.pdf/file

Professor Bear

That might be likely seen as the safest bet since The Rock's done that story several times over already.  I don't know what kind of bucks they brought in, but Tooth Fairy and The Game Plan seem to be perennial favorites with the small army of girls my brothers and sisters have spawned over the years.
