And a bit of Langdon Foss.

Looking forward to seeing what he turns in.

Snagged 2 diff cover variants and issues 2 and 3.  I'll be back with some Yankee opinions.  What do you guys think of it so far?
America is an irradiated wasteland.

Basilisk

I'm gonna wait for the trade, too. It's out on April 30th, so it's relatively around the corner.
Ah, Henry Peter Gyrich -- I should'a guessed. Tell me -- do you National Security Council Guys get a cheaper rate buyin' those sunglasses in bulk?

The whole sorry tale is here:

DDT did a job on me

I, Cosh

Haven't been buying this but I see Bill Sienkiewicz is lined up for at least one variant cover in a few issues time. I have no idea of the economics involved but I'd be pretty excited to see him do a Prog cover instead. Or, you know, a whole John Smith scripted story.

Dear Uncle Tharg,

Please make this happen for Prog 2014.

The IDW's first trade paga has been updated at Amazon.co.uk:

There's a preview so we can see more or less how the trade it's gonna be. Curious variant cover description page.

I saw this in the comic shop yesterday and it felt quite thin when I picked it up, I was thinking it would contain six issues but it has the first four inside. Seeing as the current story ends on issue eight , obviously they will do the next four in a trade, so I wonder if they will collect all eight at a later date!

Let's get this out the way first shall we, I was impressed with the spine and can see these all matching on the shelf

I had a quick look through it but not a thorough one, as that would be like those naughty Smiths shoppers. It was a decent layout and the colours were vibrant when they needed to be. They have a covers section at the rear and some of these look stunning without the logo masking them. There is also a couple of pages showing the seventeen incentive covers that were produced for the shops that ordered over 500 covers, yes folks it did happen as I thought it would!

Only the big stores, online or not will be able to invest in 500 copies.

No stores -- I may have to repeat that for rhetorical porpoises: NO stores -- will have ordered 500 copies. Maybe there are 50 small stores in a major urban area that have ordered 10 each and put it through as one order for 500, but, frankly, I don't believe they even printed the 500 copies incentive cover.

Cynical? Moi?

Jim

Now I know many of you didn't pick it up but for about a tenner online and free delivery, well why not see what we all talked about. It's cheaper than buying it in store. It says it's $19.99 on the rear, which is weird because I always though trades were supposed to be cheaper than buying all the issues. That is unless it is a premium trade!

One final thing. This bodes well for a collected Year One Dredd, seeing as this is just the four issues

COMMANDO FORCES

Latest news for issue 11 and it's Retail Incentive cover by Phil Postma. Now I do like this and have made sure that I'll be getting it from my local :D

From the covers published so far, #2 Backup strip is Brendan McCarthy, #3 Langdon Foss, and #4 Inaki Miranda.

So 2 of those know Dredd, and the other one has a European styling which looks like it would fit.

I'm hoping the Paul Gulacy strip was just a misfire.

Was this ever published in the prog? The only strip I remember of Inaki's is the Regime Change one - this doesn't ring a bell.

From Eva de la Cruz's blog - from 2008, pencils by Miranda. I definitely prefer the skinnier Dredd with a retro helmet here to the musclebound one he did.

Yes, that was a Megazine issue, re-read it recently actually, it's from Judge Dredd: Mind Games, Meg 269.

Cheers - I don't remember that one at all...

The Angel Gang are coming!

..and are apparently cannibals in IDW Dredd.

I wonder if the writers of IDW Dredd feel as though they have to try to appeal to fans of the Stallone film as well as the original comic. I guess it makes sense, being that there must be a sizeable amount of Americans buying it who are fans of the old movie.
