Is anyone reading this? I'm loving it, it's like a grown up Star Wars meets Game of Thrones.

The things that I enjoy most about this series are The Will and Lying Cat, Marko's magic using and sword wielding people, and Robot Prince.

I like that they established that The Will has some sort of morals by taking that little girl. I also love Robot Prince using his megaman like arm. And I really loved the tree rocketship, what an awesome idea.

Read vol 1 only recently.

Very impressed.

Been a while since I enjoyed a comic so much.

Chomping at the bit for vol 2.

Highly recommended.

Just went to Amazon to check it out.....

....then saw that it's written by Brian K Vaughn - imo one of the most overrated writers in comics. Have really disliked everything of his I've read.

I'll give it a miss.

As someone who got pissed-off at Y-The Last Man after about 20 issues, and then dropped it; and got bored of Ex Machina early on then dropped it... And was overly skeptical about if Saga would end up the same...

SAGA IS AMAZING.

The Bissler

Really fancy giving Saga a go!  Glad to hear it is getting positive reviews, will maybe order up a copy soon.

Surprised and saddened to see that Y The Last Man has taken a battering here.  I thought it was excellent.  And by the time you got to the end of it, it was one of the most moving comics I had ever read.  However, each to their own, life would be boring if we all liked the same things!

It's been a few years, but my abiding memories of Deus Ex Machina, Pride of Baghdad and Y the Last Man were that they were quite pompous and nowhere near as clever or interesting as they thought they were.

The Adventurer

I actually liked Pride of Baghdad a lot.

I thought it aimed for 'profound', but landed on 'cringeworthy'.

I, Cosh

I quite enjoyed Ex Machina but felt no need to buy the last few volumes when the library stopped getting them.

Will probably get the first book of this. Who said offering your first trade at a knockdown price was a bad idea?
We never really die.

Apparently the first issue is free on Comixology.

When PJ and his mates were talking about it on the Sunnyside podcast, I thought the dialogue they quoted was them taking the piss.

Not a big fan of Vaughan's previous work either, though I quite liked Runaways and that final issue of Y: The Last Man is really fantastic and a step above the mediocrity of the previous 59 issues.

I'd highly recommend Saga, however. It's as much Staples' comic as Vaughan's and it's really very good indeed.

I've enjoyed all of Vaughan's previous work that I've read; Y, Pride, Ex Machina and the first Runaways book, but I dropped Saga after three issues.
I'm perplexed as to why everyone thinks it's marvellous :-\
An old-school, no-bullshit, boys-own action/adventure comic reminiscent of the 2000ads and Eagles and Warlords and Battles and other glorious black-and-white comics that were so, so cool in the 70's and 80's - Buy the hardback Christmas Annual!

Vol 1 is winging it's way to my house as we speak, and all the positive buzz has made me quite excited. I haven't read any of Vaughn's previous output so can't comment there yet, but from what I've seen of Staples' art so far, Saga LOOKS stunning. Hope the story holds up.
