Im just wondering if anyone has an opinion on this. Im not on Facebook or twitter, and I have no particular desire to be on them, my time is pretty limited, so any time I spend on the net tends to be here or trawling through google looking for stuff.
A few people have asked am I on Facebook(For the comics), and why not when I say no.
If I had a Facebook page it would be the same as my blog, updated when I have some news or other which is pretty sporadic.
Amstor and myself spoke about this when we were putting Comic Archive together, but I didnt have the time to consider it then, so what do you think, would a Facebook page useful for promoting the stuff I produce?

Yes- my wife promotes herself entirely through facebook (she's allergic to twitter) and gets the majority of her work from her page. Her website, in comparison, receives only a percentage of pageviews. Facebook is a captive audience- as is probably twitter (but i wouldnt know and have no intention of finding out).

I do all three - blog, facebook and twitter (and pimp myself on here)  for my PARAGON comic and I honestly think I get more from the facebook side of things than anywhere else. Twitter seems a bit ... unnecessary for that side of things and the blog doesn't get half as many hits these days as it used to  :(

Basically if someone likes your page, any update to your page will then show on their feed when they log on to facebook so the more likes you get the more folk get to see your updates (and you can always ask folk to share your updates to their friends and so spread the word).
In theory.

The important thing to remember about Facebook, insidious as it is, is that it's the internet for non-nerds. If you want to get readers from outside the nerd community, I'm afraid you gotta go there.

I feel Facebook has really done wonders for my comic, El Bigote. The following isn't huge, but I'm pleased with how things are going.

Of course now I'll have to share the link: https://www.facebook.com/elbigotecomic.

Thanks for the comments lads, looks like Facebook should be expecting me!

Whore that I am, here's the page for my OGN coming out at the end of the month: http://www.facebook.com/BabbleOGN

It's basically a contemporary take on a Nigel Kneale apocalypse, but don't worry, I only made the pictures and Lee Robson did the words bits that makes it go.
