So aside from 2000 AD and The Megazine, what series does everyone here collect?

Rather partial to Silver Age Green Lantern, The Maxx, The Tick, and Howard The Duck myself

Colin YNWA

I have, or more accurately, had loads. I'm hoping I've now kicked to habit of getting titles 'cos I collect them and now just get stuff 'cos I like it and will read it again.

In the past I had all Flash comics from something like 1978 on (and a lot before that reprinted in one form or another) but I've sold some of that off now. Still have all the Wally West series. I've almost got every comic that starred Ka-Zar, or in which he's been the lead in a story in the case of anthologies. Again though that's on its way out quite possibly.

I've got pretty much all of Jack Kirby's 70's material in one form or another, some of the more obscure, lesser known series being the exception. Though DC seem to be getting around to those as well.

That aside I have significant runs of Daredevil, The Avengers (sold all my Bendis stuff there though finally), The Spirit and Spider-man (almost all reprint though, bless the Essentials for making that possible). I've also got loads of complete runs of series that haven't lasted that long, or on the ongoing series, by creators I like. So for example I have all of Zot!, Flaming Carrot and all of say Alan Grant and Norm Breyfogle's Batman stuff.

At its peak my collection was around 12,900 stories (about 9500 of those original comics, the rest reprinted)  its down to about 10,000 now (about 6,500 original comics). So while I'm still buying loads I'm glad to report I'm selling off more than I'm buying now.

COMMANDO FORCES

I collect the IDW Dredd, Jericho and a guilty pleasure of Supernatural, which is crap but I need to see if they'll put any interesting stuff into the stories that relates to the TV series.

I've trimmed my pull list down to the bare bones over the past year. At this moment in time;

  • Locke & Key
    Prophet
    Transformers Regeneration One
    Saga
    X-Factor
    IDW Dredd
    The Unwritten
    Batman
    Batman Inc

I'm also getting the 'Before Watchmen' stuff, but its almost at an end.

How is it so far? I'm kind of a purist of the original and never dared to touch it

I've not read any yet (I'm dying to but I'm waiting for the hardcovers to land) but the reviews have been largley positive, which a big relief. DC chose well for the creative teams.

My current pull list is in my signature, it changes often though.

Hardly anything these days. It seems all the comics I like come out sporadically if at all. I get-

The Walking Dead (may go back to just getting the collected ones though)
Love And Rockets (Fatima by Gilbert at the mo)
Deadworld (nothing at the minute)
Anything by Richard Corben
Flaming Carrot (whenever something drops).

Mostly just GN's or collections of old stuff these days. I'd be buggered without the meg or prog.

Should also add smallpress stuff such as Zarjaz, Futurequake etc.

To give a hysteria free answer; its generally good.
Some of it is excellent (Minutemen & Silk Spectre), some good enough (Dr. Manhattan), and some just ok (Rorschach & Nite Owl).
To my disappointment, there doesn't seem to be an over-arching sub-plot, and the back-up Pirate strip by John Higgins seems to be completely superfluous (but enjoyable).

I've heard that DC are going to put together collections based on the writers input.
To that end, I'd strongly recommend the Darwyn Cooke collection to any comic reader, regardless of their position on the concept of Before Watchmen.

Cool, good job the first volume is Minutemen/Silk Spectre then! I re-read Watchmen again just the other week and reminded me how much I would love a book of the Pirate comic!. I'm keeping an eye on the Before Watchmen books hoping Amazon slash the prices as they seem to be doing of late with their graphic novels.

I wouldnt be surprised if that Minutemen / Silk Spectre collection will be the only one most people pick up, as I cant see the other collections getting anywhere near as good reviews.

Some really nice sub-plots in Minutemen, particularly if anyone was wondering just what did happen Hooded Justice...

I collect Walking Dead through the trades, I know a few other peeps that do too so it's always good to talk about the ending of the latest volume.. the last half dozen have been killer endings. Roll on volume 18.

I collect IDW's rebooted TMNT series via TPB too, highly recommended.

Went through a bit of a UK comic collecting phase not so long ago and picked up a full run of Warrior and Starlord, with that hard to find summer special.

Of the newer stuff:

Full run of Preacher (with specials)
Full run of The Boys
All the Ennis run of Punisher and beyond (stopped at the Rucka stuff, because it was more superhero like and a bit cack).

Even newer stuff:

Jennifer Blood
Saga
Judge Dredd IDW
Star Wars (new Dark Horse series)
The Massive
Dial H
Fury

Any Toxic! or Crisis or is that on your "to do list"?
