As Mr green states. The Doctor told them to stay separate or time (in this case their own future) would re-assert itself. The Time Zombies were themselves, from the future. The one we first saw, holding its head, was the Doctor, the others were Clara & the two salvage guys fused together. They touched just as the solar flare hit them.

It was a pretty humdrum episode, bad direction in at least one place. It could be that the direction let it down but the plot wasn't good. Big reset button... daft.

Some really nice bits too but probably only because Steven Moffatt said 'Do something showing lots of rooms in the TARDIS' or something similar. He has stated more than once that he was disappointed with the tour from The Time War.

I got the timing thing, but when Clara was identified as one of them, the Doctor says "you burned up, you died again" - but they obviously didn't die. I'm unclear as to how they became mindless angry charcoal zombies instead of just... charcoal.

They weren't looking too healthy.

I took it as more that they would die shortly after being crisped up and at the point he said it, that was looking the most likely outcome.

It was a bit of nothing, yet seemed to try to be so much. It kept nippin' at the heels of good ideas, it chased around lots of potential and over all achieved very little. The interaction between The Doctor and Carla I think was meant to be significant and meaningful, powerful and intriguing, but it just felt very over wrought.

That said didn't help it, aside from the rest button ending... actually it was all a bit pointless...

BLAM!
SFX forum wise, Journey to the Centre... has now gained more poor ratings than average. Somebody asks why the writer of the episode was given another episode after he had written 'Black Spot' (?). Cue me about to google said episode...

Hadn't realsied it was the same bloke who wrote 'Black Spot', in which case well done that man as this was 8634 times better that that episode, which was (and I look all this stuff up in a big posh book to make sure its FACT) the worst episode of NuWho ever. That includes all the X-Mas specials and end of Tennant era Specials.

BBC Toys completely miss the point.

That we where never supposed to see the whole Ice Warrior. It was deliberately kept in the shadows. Then they make THAT toy. The head doesn't even resemble the one we saw! GAH! I care to much!

Journey to the Centre of the Tardis writer Stephen Thompson seems to be inexplicably favoured by Moffat - he's the only person other than Moffat and Gattis to so far have written a Sherlock episode. When I was at the UK Writers Guild Awards last year, it was Thompson who presented Moffat with his Lifetime award, so I'm guessing they're pretty chummy.

And, yes, Curse of the Black Spot is easily the worst Matt Smith story, although there's still a few Tennant era stinkers (Fear Her, for example, and anything by Chris Chibnall) that beat it hands down.

I would have thought that Tennant episode where the Doctor condemned a woman to a living death as a paving slab that gave blowjobs was the worst episode ever.
