Horrendous episode. This whole "series" has been a complete shambles.

Couldn't agree more.  I believe it's Matt 'wooden from the knees up' Smith's fault.  If the same shite scripts where done with Tennant, we'd have been pissing ourselves laughing, not bemoaning the ruination of a series well loved.

Horses for courses, but I mthink Smith is the one thing holding a lot of the ropey stuff together - this was an ask too far.  Tennants Timmy Mallett might have had them rolling in the aisles, but I'm not sure that'd be an improvement!  Smith usually takes material that Tennant would have had me squirming at and makes it work, but this time round the squirming was unavoidable.

^This.

Oh, and beware of spoilers over the next week. BBC America let the final episode of the series out into the world by mistake on DVD.

Wow, that really is a shambles  :-[

I absolutely loved Gaiman's previous who. One of my favourite Whos ever, Nu or classic. So I had high hopes here and much like Greg M those hopes where not only dashed, they took flight headlong into a bad companion killing planet crash. Christ that was bloody awful.

Unlike many I really enjoyed Bell's of St John, since then this season been almost universally poor.

Mardroid

I liked it, although there were plot points that were a bit iffy. For example the bit where The Doctor states that earlier Cybermen (i.e. not the current incarnations) were susceptible to gold.. then, conveniently it turns out they're still using the same code, eh what? I guess you could argue that fully fledged cybermen are no longer vulnerable and it was just the cybernetic 'unpatched' implants that could be affected, but...

And was it ever made clear as to why the kids went into a coma instead of remaining under cyber-control like the other guy? That might be just me missing something though and being a div.

Richmond Clements

I enjoyed it, too. Tennant's mugging would have been horrible - can you just imagine how atrocious he would have been when playing the 'possessed' Doctor?

And my theory on Clara: she's
a nestene.
Word to the wise, if the season as a whole so far hasn't spoiled the finale next week enough for you (uh catty!) then watch what Who related content you access this week. Apparently in America the DVD of this season has been released a week early in error AND SO any number of American's have got their hands on next weeks episode a week early and spoilers are bound to be doing the rounds.

That article is spoiler free by the way (can't comment on the comments section, so as I say approach with caution).

Already nabbed that head line. It really is a shambles isn't it.

Whoops sorry so you did. Still can't warn enough... now then to try some of that practiced Taylor will power... only a week, only a week...

That was absolutly fantastic. Quite possibly one of the best episodes since the series returned. Already I've had several friends who watch Doctor Who but aren't really fans texting me to say how gripping that was. The use of the past Doctors was very nicely done, particularly the use of the 1st Doctor. I loved every minute of that and I'm now feeling much more confident about the John Hurt character. Roll on the 50th.

Zarjazzer

I was taken aback by Mr Hurt's appearance as a/the ? Doctor-found it a bit confusing, alot of stuff going on but some fun ideas the dream meeting was well done I thought and the meetings with the old docs.
The Justice department has a good re-education programme-it's called five to ten in the cubes.

But.....
if 'the great intelligence' goes in to infect the doctors timeline, and Clara has to go in to be there to save him throughout time.......then HE goes in and pulls her out......how exactly is she supposed to stop the great intelligence all through time??  She's no longer there to do so.
Was definitely the best episode in the series, but still.....

Lovely little cameo's by the old Doc's, but
didn't spot the 8th Doc - I wonder which number the John Hurt character will be?
An old-school, no-bullshit, boys-own action/adventure comic reminiscent of the 2000ads and Eagles and Warlords and Battles and other glorious black-and-white comics that were so, so cool in the 70's and 80's - Buy the hardback Christmas Annual!
