Yeah, knowing how the corporate "mind" works, it's probably a law suit. Please Grud let me be wrong.

I doubt they'd be reaching out via twitter to present a solicitor's letter.

io9.com having a nice little discussion regarding a new Riddick movie...

(Not going to lie: I immensely enjoyed Riddick. It's about as close as one could get to seeing a Strontium Dog movie in the flesh.)

I was surprised how much they got for their money on Riddick.

I'm not sure what the breakdown of promo/production is but the figures on IMDB seem to suggest it cost less than Dredd did.

OK, it wasn't 3D, but a lot of CGI as well as practical sets.

It wasn't as close to being on the same kind of scale as Dredd, though. Dredd's sets were big. There was also the real location outdoor shoots, and the costumes and props were more intricate in Dredd also. From watching Riddick, it looked like almost the entire film was shot in a single studio with a very small set and a large green screen.

Diesel put a lot of his own money into it too though, Steve. Passion project for the man. Gets my respect.

That wouldn't affect the budget though, would it? Just where it was raised.

Unless Vin Diesel's contribution (outside of his fee) was off the books, (which would be a bit weird)

As for comparisons - I wouldn't say that Dredd's costumes were necessarily that much more complicated, and Riddick had much more variety in sci-fi-styled costumes.

Yes, the atrium was big but everything else was pretty much just corridors from what I recall.

Riddick had a lot more variety in sets and digital mattes, and a lot more creature effects than I would have expected for that budget.

Goaty

Ask him to funding new Dredd... maybe cameo in it too?

I won't be happy unless it revolves around Adi Shankar's girlfriend playing an undercover judge.

Is she a bit of alright? You couldn't google her for me, could you?
