As much as I'm intrigued by the suggestion of a new Dredd-flavoured short, I'm a little worried that Shankar consistently dodged questions of whether Urban or any of the other original cast would be involved...

There is something awfully wrong here. Where are the naysayers and doom merchants

I'm on holiday.

If we can't have our first choice favourite as DREDD again how about the geezer who played LEX he was awesome!  :D

What would the purpose of the proposed Dredd short be?

I took the Punisher short to be something of a pitch to aim for a reboot that franchise, but Shankar openly states that Dredd 2 is 'not going to happen'.

So would it be purely for fun? For the fans?

We've just had a fab film called Dredd 3D made for the fans, don't be greedy now.

Hopefully nowt more than wishing to play it all close to his chest - for the time being.
But Karl reprising Dredd would be the ultimate - and would deffo sell the project. He's got to be on Shankar's wishlist

Langley Kirkwood was his name and I thought his performance was excellent and complimented Karls very well. Was hoping for a proper dust up between Dredd and lex before he was put down as I thought he made a better adversary than mama.

Did he use those words further down the page? To be fair, he also said he didn't want to see another Punisher film either so that kinda contradicts the view that Dirty Laundry was a means to push for this. I'm not sure we should be taking one guy's word as final confirmation.

Totally agree. Has this actor done anything else ?

Yes. He swings between saying a sequel is 'probably not happening' and 'unlikely', and stating categorically that it will definitely not. Tbh he is probably just assuming it to be the case, as lets face it: Dredd tanked at the cinema, and films that tank don't get sequels.

Quotehe also said he didn't want to see another Punisher film either so that kinda contradicts the view that Dirty Laundry was a means to push for this

That's odd because over on Youtube he said this of Dirtylaundry/Punisher reboot:

Quoteif enough fans start harassing marvel they may let it happen ...

All in all he seems like a decent bloke. I particularly enjoyed his comments on the future of cinema, 'routine interest movies' (great term!), exec lunches and 'frivilous' studio spending.

He's one of the lone voices still championing grown-up, serious and challenging genre films in a world of PG-13 gash, so good luck to him.

Yeah, I do like that the guy. That was one of the most interesting Q&A's I've read (or at least scanned through!). At the very least his opinion should be taken seriously.

And Lex is currently playing King David in that mega hit Bible series over in the US. Not quite quite sure who asked that question!
