Battery life is pretty good on tablets though, and at least it is on my Nexus 7. It'll last the day (more if it's not used heavily) and you can recharge overnight. It'll cover a comic reading session easily. For resolution it's better than the I pad mini too although not up to the larger ipad specs. (With a smaller screen that's not an issue though.)

I get all my individual comics in electronic versions now, relying on the Comixology App for my Dc comics (just three at the moment) and ComicRack for the Prog and Meg CBZ downloads from ClickWheel.

I think if you have a tablet, there is no harm in downloading the free 2000AD app and the free 48 page sample edition, Judge Brian. You may be pleasantly surprised. Might save you a shed-load of cash... If you don't have a tablet, I'm with TA and wouldn't recommend sitting in from of a PC screen!

I don't have a tablet yet, but my PC uses a 32' HDTV for a monitor. I still don't like reading comics on it.

I don't think I'd want to read comics on my telly either, JB :)

QuoteBloomin' heck that's harsh, especially as you say the $ to $ rate is pretty close. Must be very tough going having a comics habit over there. Do you get Australian editions like the UK editions of some key titles here?

Nope just imports here, there are a couple of Aussie comic companies but they only do original material, there doing a war comic about the Fall of Siagon at the moment which really comes accross like an old coloured Battle strip, and of course The Phantom is still published here but I haven't seen it on the New Agents shelves for a while.
We do get repackaged Simpson, Krusty, and sometimes Transformer comics CRUNCHED DOWN TO 10CM X 5CM FORMAT (POKET BOOKS) but thats it for repackages.

Comics are print i dont think i could ever get used of reading em on a tablet, and like my music when i spend $ on something i want a physical product still.  Old school i know but its just how i'm wireds (and the reason i have over 1500 DVD's and box sets. (now gradually upgrading to BluRay, what a nightmare).

My LCS (a regular Forbidden Planet) goes at $2.99 = £2.45 and $3.99 = £3.30. It is a little steep but they are the only local one so they don't have any competition to underprice them. (I'd love to open my own store but thats another story.).

It's really harsh when they are charging £3.30 for a $3.99 comic yet I managed to find the new Superman Unchained (which has a $4.99 price) online for £3.25!

QuoteThanks for recommending digital, but I hate digital. I have to have the paper in my hands or I'll go without.

Then be prepared to pay far out the ass for the best comics in the world.

Its worth it, but I've never been happier after switching to digital. Though my enjoyment hinged a lot on getting a tablet. Cause reading on PC screens is not a great experience.

I would second this, you really do have to see for yourself how good the 2000ad sampler looks on an ipad.  I am seriously thinking about going digital.

I may have banged on about this before elsewhere, so forgive the repetition, but the iPad edition comes with 3 months of back issues if you subscribe for a year. Now for a newbie like me, it was too good a deal to miss out on...
