Hi,
After a little bit of advice.  In a house clearance I have come across

Collection of 2000ad - Pretty much complete from issue 120
Collection of Judge Dredd Megazines - Hard to work out as the numbering changed (and the size) but again looks pretty much complete
Loads of special issues, poster issues, annuals, mugs, t-shirts.

Everything was bagged and seems to be in very good condition (no backing boards on them but all seemed pretty flat).  I was offered £250 for it, I said no and he came back with offer of £500.  I have no idea what they may be worth, looking through the comments here I suspect more but just not knowledgeable in the area.  Any advice?  Ideally would like to sell as a whole.

Thanks.

Sounds like a dealer from the prices on offer, normally they would look to pay about 1/3 of the true value.  The £250 sounds like someone trying to see how knowledgeable you are.  The £500 doesn't sound completely unreasonable considering that complete collections appear for £2000 roughly on ebay on a regular basis but I would say still on the soft side.  The issue is the 'pretty much complete' bit.

The big question is how much effort do you want to put into shifting them. Shifting them as a whole could be easier but you may have to take a hit on their worth.  Splitting into chunks might net you more cash but leave you with chunks that are hard to shift.  The poster progs are highly sought after as they don't appear very often but there are loads of the annuals out there so you might find them hard to shift.  The same goes with the megs and the progs.  Some of the earlier megs can sometimes be harder to offload as they are more commonly available.  The progs can be harder to shift once you get past the 300's at times but might go nicely in yearly batches.

Completely agree with above.

I'd see if you could secure the £500 just for the comics and split out the t-shirts, posters etc.
There isnt a big market for these comics and there is over supply as they sold in comparatively high numbers.

Betel on here sells issues 3 for a £1 so based alone on this is pretty good as a bulk deal.

Thanks for the replies much appreciated.  I have sorted through quite carefully and can see now I am only missing 423 and 866, so have 120 up to February this year.  I can't quite fathom the megazine, it looks like the numbering changed but I think I do not have the first 18 issues.  Most of them are in excellent condition.

I have lots of duplicates, like 5 copies of number 500, like a foil special issues.

Not sure how it works selling stuff, best thing to do is a complete inventory I guess.  Do people normally stick it on ebay and link to it here?  Or sell direct here?  Thanks again!

Sounds like a wet dream I once had.

Sorry for crashing the thread, I can't offer you anything, just wanted to say that was some helluva house clearance.

2000ad progs are always a but tricky to value.  There is what people who collect them consider the value to be and then there is finding someone who will actually give you the money.

You can get an idea from ebay but this can be tricky too as there is loads on there for silly prices that never seem to get sold.  You need to look at what has completed to get a better idea.

This chap had approx 800 that didn't sell for £200

This guy had over 6000 (how?) that sold for £160

Also, I am sorry to say that if you are missing the first 120 then you are missing the 120 most valuable ones.  OK, there are some odd other valuable ones but pretty much older = worth more.

Thanks for the replies all, very good.  The megazine link  is really helpful as I couldn't understand it, thought I was missing loads as is seemed to jump from fortnightly to monthly, renumbered.

So I have got the complete list.  The chap above said the poster progs were worth pulling out seperately, I have a Slaine (conan thing) a Roger trooper and 4 Judge Dredds and a strontium dog (which goes £10 on ebay? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-AD-SPECIAL-POSTER-PROG-STRONTIUM-DOGS-No-1-RARE-/150601833486).

I will post the link to ebay once I get it all written down (also once I finish reading the Nikolai Dante stories which is really very good!)

Interesting looking at the stuff you have on ebay there.  Would be curious to see how many of those actually shift at the prices you are asking for them.  Hope they do go but do think you are being a little ambitious (although not so much with the poster prog).
