I managed to wind my missus up by convincing her that Stephanie Powers had previously worked as a research chemist, where she was responsible for inventing Tipp-Ex correction fluid by accident.

Of course it was all bollocks.  But she wouldn't believe my admission, thinking it was a clever double-bluff.

However, when showing her proof that I was actually lying, we discovered -- in a bizarre twist of fate -- that correction fluid was actually (really) invented by the mum of Mike Nesmith (of The Monkees and MTV fame).

Truth was indeed just as strange as fiction.
