This is going to seem pretty vague but here goes....I remember reading the phrase Geek Maggot Bingo in a story some time in the 80s. Was it the VCs, a Future Shock? Or have I just imagined it? This vague memory thinks the art was Gary Leach or Alan Davis, but without a hypnotherapist to flesh out the details I can't be sure. It was briefly uttered by some dude on a spaceship. I think...

Thanks.

That would be a Trivial Pursuit answer on the opening page of Prog 567's Future Shock  Plastic Surgeon. & a right cracker it is too.

The only scripting credit for one 'C. Smith', whom this squaxx has long wondered to be a permutation of the John Smith / Chris Standley writing partnership. Drop dead gorgeous art by Fabry, proving that he can deliver the goods on futuristic SF with as equal measure the Celtic Dreamtime.

Well played Stevie!

Is Monsieur Crabhat68 perhaps considering a musical venture?

O Lucky Stevie!

Apologies for not including a scan but that was all from Barney-assisted memory during lunch break at work. It's funny the things that stay with you, wot?

Always thought that this would have made a good series & that, on the strength of the art here, Fabry would have been a perfect fit for Rogue Trooper.

Did you say 'Apologies' for outstanding service? Thanks hugely for settling my mind-worm, Sir!

This cropped up because a week or so back I Googled the phrase having had it stashed in my head for years. When I found it was a film title I emailed Nick Zedd, the director to ask if he'd read it in 2000AD in the VCs. I was pleased that he actually wrote back to say that he'd invented the phrase in 1982 and hadn't read 2000AD.  I don't know why I thought it was in The VCs but that's brains for you (or their lack)...

Anyway, thanks for the response!

That is some serious Rain Man memory recall. Definitely, definitely, future shocks, definitely. Uh oh, fart.
