That's pretty much how I feel about it. There's something about that early Sláine, with its energy and imagination

The more I think about this the more I agree.... I think you really should read Warrior's Dawn and also IMO Time Killer and  then Slaine the King.

Warrior's Dawn has had plenty of comment already and I've already mentioned Slaine the King...so onto Time Killer -

this start with Dragon Heist which is a great caper and moves onto Time Killer - which is very important to the overall saga, featuring the Cythrons, The Guledig and Elfric.

Don't be put off by the fact that the strips in the first three volumes are in black and white - they feature some of the best art ever in 2000AD.

I can only echo what the very fine gentlemen have said above: start Slaine, please, I think, with Warrior's Dawn. The beginning is the best place to start with Slaine.

Same for SD, too. Nothng wrong with those Starlord stories -- dive right in with those!

For me Time Killer is when Slaine jumped the shark.

Afterwards "The King" and "The Horned God" were back to being good, but were not on par with the earlier stories.

When the Horned God was finished there was nothing good until the lost stories (Swans etc)

The Books of Invasions were OK.

What was up with the woman who looked like Niamh in Slaine the Wanderer? A lost plot thread?
