Videocopilot ran a request for community supplied buildings - here are the results.

I haven't got a clue about 3d software, I couldn't even get my head around SketchUp, but I can see this being a life saver (if I can suss it out)

Cheers Steve  :D

Scratch that... I still won't have a clue  :(

How you open these in 3Ds Max? I've just tried to open one of the OBJ files and it threw a fit

Steve Green

Well, if you don't know 3D, all the models are obj files (the jpg of 3D formats)

You should be able to load them into an obj viewer like this

http://sourceforge.net/projects/objmodelviewer/ and snapshot the image for reference.

But they should load into any 3D app, or even later versions of photoshop at a guess.

Which version of Max?

I've tried their previous model pack and it came in OK. I've not tried this one yet.

Just tried it with Building 100, Max 2013 and it comes in fine.

This guy wrote a better obj importer plugin for older versions of Max, but it got absorbed into more recent base release of Max.

You know what, Steve. It's working fine now.

I'm using 3Ds Max 2013 and for the last few weeks I've been spending the small hours of the evening learning how to use it. Last night whatever I did the OBJ files would not load, tried them again after I posted the above and everything loads up first time. I must have done something to Max last night while tinkering and a reboot sorted it out.

Cool - there are presets for different 3D apps on the OBJ import, I usually use the Maya preset and that seems to work.
