That's right, though the Lobo character had to be altered for copyright reasons.

Or am I mis-remembering?   :-\

That's my memory of it, too - Lobo's face, and possibly some of his body/clothes, were redrawn as a pantomime dame.

You absolutely have to get a copy of Beyond 2000AD, which reprints 2000AD style newspaper strips including Scatha from Mills/Fabry (very Slaine-y), and a McCarthy/Milligan effort which is a fair bit Sooner or Later-y.
The same outfit also reprinted some Doomlord and 13th Floor from Eagle and Scream, both Wagner/Grant and both similar in tone to early 2000 AD. There's a thread somewhere on the forum with a link to the shop!

Not sure if it has been mentioned but Yesterday's Tomorrows: Rian Hughes Collected Comics has the Morrison Dan Dare in it (which I enjoyed and I think would have fitted in 2000ad) and Really and Truly (which I didn't, and thought didn't fit in 2000ad).

It's a joke. I was joking.
