Hooray! It's time to cast your votes for your favourite covers of the year, and what a year it's been! You can see bigger, 'clean' versions of all but two of the covers on my blog, as well as artist commentaries for each one - not bad eh? You'll find the relevant posts beneath each set of covers.

So, I'd like you to clearly list your THREE favourites, in order. THREE points will be awarded to your fave, TWO points for second and ONE point for third. I will try not to mess the maths up this year!

The closing date is midnight on SATURDAY 18TH JANUARY 2014...

Before we start, I'd like to once again thank all the artists, especially Simon 'Pye' Parr, for their help over the year. Fine gentlemen all!

And so, the contenders are:

It's a difficult choice as it's been one hell of a year in regards to these mindblowing covers, but in the end my choices would be;

1. 1853
2. 1854
3. 1830

I also love Fabry's cover for 1833, damn, so hard....

It's a joke. I was joking.

Voici les results du jury de Sauchie:

une point - 1836 (Leigh Gallacher)

deux points - 1824 (D'Israeli)

et troi points - 1848 (Le Royaume-Uni(que), Mick McMahon)

Je suis desole, je couldnae sling a point or two in the direction of any of Flint's uniformly superb and utterly unique covers, for Dave Kendall's fantastic Gorehead, or Carl Critchlow's wonderfully coloured and perfectly designed sub-aqua Dredd image, but c'est la vie.

Been looking forward to this!

Three points: 1821 Dredd, Bolland
Two points: 1844a Slaine, Langley
One point: 1836 Defoe, Gallagher

Honourable mention: 1832 Sinister Dexter, Teague/Robinson
The hippo has wisdom, respect the hippo.

My favourite: Prog 1824, Stickleback by D'Israeli

Second place: prog 1848, Slaine by Mick McMahon

In third: 1830, Gunheadz by Boo Cook.

And that's after a lot of agonising. I wish I could have voted for Weston, Bolland and Flint, too.

It's all right, that's in every contract.
That's what they call a sanity clause.
You can't fool me, there ain't no sanity clause.

First      - 1833
Second  - 1836
Third     - 1847

Iiiiin 3rd - 1837 I just love that colouring (the only other artist I recall using that shade purple is Don Lawrence - what a co-incidence!  ;) )

Iiiin 2nd - 1836 - brilliant composition

Iiiin 1st place 1821 - it's BOLLAND!!
An old-school, no-bullshit, boys-own action/adventure comic reminiscent of the 2000ads and Eagles and Warlords and Battles and other glorious black-and-white comics that were so, so cool in the 70's and 80's - Buy the hardback Christmas Annual!

1. 1854. I'm a sucker for Cliff Robinson / Teague and I love all the Easter Eggs in this picture. Great composition too.
2. 1832. Another Robinson / Teague. I've picked this because it also has a great composition but also lots of movement and it's really atmospheric.
3. 1818. This looks like a still taken straight from an action film. Again, there's loads of movement and this would have been sure to grab the attention of a 12 year old me - real 'pick up off the shelf' appeal.

Honourable mentions to Leigh Gallagher's Zombie silhouette for a great piece of design and to Clint Langley's Slaine covers which I'm a big fan of.

Darren Stephens

Cor, what a collection of beauties! My votes are as follows....

1st: 1836 Leigh Gallagher. Just a stunning design and cracking drawing overall. Top skills, that droid.
2nd: 1828 Henry Flint. Brilliant stuff from the ever reliable Flint.
3rd: 1815 Darren Douglas. Bit disappointed we haven't seen more from this new artist. This is just fantastic!
