Since GrinningChimera asked for some before and after pics I thought I just start a topic about it and because it's about a creative process I'll post it here.

So this is a pic of how the pieces look like now:

I had to cut off lots of plastic from all the pieces first. Here is how it looked at the beginning:

Next step will be to undercoat them and then paint them seperately before I glue them all together.

I'm assuming you've some experience making these but just in case: The kit's vinyl plastic so make sure you bathe it all in hot water before you start trimming the excess plastic back. Heat makes it softer and easier to work with and less likely to stab yourself in the leg with a very sharp blade which, I assure you, I did NOT do when assembling this very kit many years ago. Superglue's what you need to stick all this together and I have to be honest, painting everything first's going to be a big mistake as none of these pieces are going to fit together properly and you're going to need modelling putty/filler to smooth the gaps. Vinyl kits are pretty tricky. Also, Dredd's ankles are too skinny to support his weight too so after a while he's going to start listing forward. I filled his bottom half with plaster to give him support before assembly.
"...and it was here in this blighted place, he learned to live again."

Ya I'm experienced in such things. I like Warhammer 40k so I have done that a couple of times. The problem with painting it afterwards is that it get's difficult reaching every spot with the brush but I already noticed that those gaps are a bit bigger here and there so I guess you're right but I have Milliput for that.
Didn't need to bath the pieces first though. The manual said I just have to do it if the pieces are twisted or something like that and with my scalpel it was pretty easy to cut the vinyl.
Thx for the tip with the ankles. Didn't think about that so I'll have to get something to do the trick. Do you think I can use hot glue? It get's pretty solid when it cools down.
