Hello, I'm hoping some experts on this forum can help me find an issue number for a 2000ad prog I had as a child (might have been late 80's). All I can remember was a few pages of prose near the middle. The story was either about a mans decent into madness or omens foretelling the end of the world. The two details that I hope will ring a bell with you are as follows;

Man gets up in the morning and opens his curtains to find hundreds of tiny orange frogs in between the panels of his double glazed window.

Same man (probably) out in his garden sees flock of starlings (or some other small bird) fly at full speed into the pebble dashed wall on the side of his house splattering everywhere.

I know it's not much to go on but I'd be really grateful if anyone can help.
I think it may have been some sort of holiday special as I'm quite sure it was thicker than a normal issue and I believe the cover art was mostly green if that helps at all.
Many thanks in advance.

I, Cosh

I don't recall this myself, but the 1990 Sci-Fi Special had an Indigo Prime text story with illustrations by Chris Weston which sounds like it could fit the bill.

Aye, I don't recall this one at all, but my first reaction was 'must be John Smith'.  No-one else's fecked-up imagery infects the brain in quite the same way.  And if Weston is on board too, doubly so.

It is indeed the 2000AD sci fi special 1990, priced 95p (them were the days) and the story you remember is 'REQUIEM' an Indigo Prime text story by John Smith and illustrated by Chris Weston.

Cant link to a pic on my phone, but the cover is a closeup of Tharg holding three cards showing Armoured Gideon, Luke Kirby and Bid Barton, by Zac Sandler.

Also featuring my all time favorite Bix Barton story, where our hero takes on a dastardly haunted Full English Breakfast. I kid you not.

Ah, 1990.

Is this the card you were thinking of?

That is definitely the one I am after. A big thank you to Cosh, tordelback, smallbluething, link prime and sauchie. You have impressed the hell out of me with the speed of your reply and your knowledge.

I know a lot of us feel cheated by the post 2000ad world with its lack of jet packs and holograms, but it really is an amazing time we live in. Truly the age of information, when I can use a device in my pocket to reach out to like minded people with only a vague memory of something that blew my mind when I was eleven years old and within 24 hours I get the help I need to buy that thing using the same pocket device.
So cool

Take it easy

What the hell?  I've never seen that Special before, didn't even know it existed, and it's from a time that I was glued to the Prog (although I was working in the middle of nowhere that year, and my Progs were being stockpiled by a friend by home, so it's understandable (although obviously I now have to kill him)).  And it has an unread Ridgway Luke Kirby story in it, fantastic!  It must be mine.
