Dan Dare will return for a new adventure soon, Earthlets!

"There's a video demo (I'm told) included in the current version of Official UK PS2 Magazine (Issue 30)."

It's been on the Dredd vs Death site at Gamegossip for a while. Hit the link below if you want to check it out.

the rest of the world gets first look. before the primary target market? i mean considering this is a computer based group.

DD - I reckon they're doing right by this, personally.
The prime target of marketing, promoting & advertising should be the computer-mag buying public.  Us lot will get the it when it comes out whatever.  By promising PCZ exclusive material it means PCZ will give more publicity to the game in their pages, and that means gamers who've never heard of "Judge Dredd" or "2000AD" might think this game looks good, I must get it.
And once they've enjoyed the game, they might try out the comic.
Better set your phaser to stun.

ok fair comment odd boy.
but perhaps mentioning it here would have been nice.?
or even a good idea.
to me and i know i keep on about this but the marketing dept seem to  have their heads up their asses.

one thing you never lose sight off or take for granted.
your base market.us
that said i am looking forward to its realease and success which can only be great for rebellion and tooth.

Well, it's always great to know we have your support, DD.

OK, this is why the pics are in PC Zone and not right here - they get an exclusive, they give the game lots of coverage.

For there to be much point in reading PC Zone, you have to be a PC-owner with a penchant for playing games, and therefore you are a potential buyer of Dredd Vs. Death. How much more target market do you get?

Not everyone on this group owns a PC, and of those that do, not everyone uses theirs to play games, therefore you're not as targetted as the Zone readership.

Not to mention that if we posted the screens here, they would be round the world in seconds, thus throughly pissing a number of magazines in a variety of different countries who have all got local exclusives coming out in the next couple of weeks.

Vivendi are happy for the new screenshots to be released onto the internet at the end of the month, as far as I understand, so that's when they will be released here.

Please do not accuse us of inefficiency, simply because we are not pandering to your every demand, DD.

I'm in the dark as to the stage in development of Dredd Vs. Death,
and I've already mentioned this in Logan's 'PC game' thread..
but does anyone know if the game will have an online facility to take to the streets of MC1 and either (a) team up with other online judges delivering justice or (b) comiting crime with other online perps?
I'm thinking along the lines of Counter Strike and the console based Grand Theft Auto series.
Obviously you're not a golfer.

>I'm in the dark as to the stage in development of Dredd Vs. Death,

The game is due out in the third quarter of 2003, so there are only a few months to go.

>but does anyone know if the game will have an >online facility to take to the streets of MC1 ?>and either (a) team up with other online judges >delivering justice or (b) comiting crime with >other online perps?

There will be an announcement on multiplayer in the fullness of time, so please bear with us.

Bart Oliver

Mk13 thanks for the prompt reply,

one more thing I forgot to mention will there be a Apple mac version?
Obviously you're not a golfer.

I've got an old arcade emulator that I play roms from the eighties on now and again

is there such a thing for the Mac that could emulate the microsoft operating system there for allowing the Dredd game to run or is it more complicated than that, meaning there are hardware differences involved?

Had a few jars last night before coming back onto the board- just re read my last line- bit vague.. what I meant to say was

..meaning  there are fundimental software/hardware differences involved?

No worries, I think I understood what you meant.

I'm not particularly techy, but as I understand it, it is possible to get hold of software for a Mac that will emulate a PC to the extent that you can run certain PC software on it.

I doubt this would work for games though, as firstly most current games use a great deal of the system resources to play (just see what happens if your virus checker comes on during a game of Medal of Honor), and running an emulator would absorb a chunk of that processing power.

Secondly, and more importantly, emulators will only allow you to run software designed to operate on a basic PC setup - i.e. not taking account of software that requires certain types of graphics card, etc, and as far as I know, developers don't develop/test PC games to run on a Mac under emulation.

You're right I'm afraid - whilst a package like Virtual PC does give you a full version of Windows running on your Mac, the performance hit is such that running processor-intensive stuff like games is pretty much a non-starter. :-(

Thanks for the info Mk13 and Jim.

I confess it's not want I really wanted to hear-
but I still hope (and I may not be alone in thinking this) that the developers will get round to putting out a Mac version after the anticipated sucess of the game on other formats..

Meanwhile I'll have to be content with (er-hum) feeling the force on Outcast.
Obviously you're not a golfer.
