This looks great. Great Chris Weston cover and I absolutely love carls work. A definite purchase for me.

While I tend to avoid the IDW stuff (although I did download the collection of Dredd Year One from Comixology.... and I'm very glad I did) I'm tempted by this. Largely due to Matt Smiths involvement I guess. I. E. It's strictly not 2000 AD Dreddworld but it's close enough. And with a bit of imagination it could be... (much like Year One). And I like the idea of having comics in the 24(ish) Page format devoted to a specific character and format. Much as I like our own beloved anthologies for different reasons.

It's just having to do a different continuity to break in to the US market with the IDW stuff in the first place doesn't really sit well with me, although I certainly understand the reasons.

I'm curious to see that they're keeping 'Judge Dredd' as part of the title. I guess that makes sense as his name is the better known and this expands on events from the other series.

...wait wait wait. Is that a thing?!

Sorry neebs, that and the idea of Henry Flint resurrecting Red Razors were the most ludicrous squandering of massive talents on old, one-note material my brain could come up with while my head was still buried in my cereal bowl. If I'd been fully awake, I would have announced that John Smith and Edmund Bagwell were reforming their Cradlegrave partnership for IDW's ongoing Mean Team series.

My rumour mill source had Al Ewing lined up for this, but I'm not disappointed at all that Matt Smith is on script duties, nor that it's a sort-of follow up to Year One.
Looks like a winner.

hmmmm! Yeah Smith's Year One was good and I've always been a huge fan of Critchlow - those two pages there look grand. I'm up for this!

More 2000ad folk on things is a good sign.

Seconded  :D
DDT did a job on me

It's a joke. I was joking.

Chris Weston has shown the progression from 'rough' to finished cover over on Facebook and seeing as a few of you do not frequent that place, here they are!

The finished cover is on page one of this thread ;)

Cheers, John. I'll make an exception for the magisterial genius of Weston, but I secretly hate any artist who adds wee gold straps and harnesses holding on the shoulder pad and eagle. The only sort of exception to this was Carlos, who (for a while in the nineties) drew the leathers of judges who'd taken off their shoulder pads as having built in metal slots - presumably, he imagined corresponding hooks on the pads themselves.

Interesting Sauchie. It makes me wonder how the artists would actually figure out how everything goes together on the uniform and doesn't fall apart, or off.

As for the name spot Teivion, I didn't make the final cover, as it was changed to the character inside :'( Still, I'm still breathing, so I'm happy, in a sad way ;)
