Are we looking at a volume that doesn't reprint these 4 strips if they can't be found, or one that includes lower quality copies with a disclaimer?

Molch-R

If none of them can be found we'll go with the low res copies. But, to be honest, they'd look pretty crap.

Dark Jimbo

The sheer amount of work going into this book is something truly wonderful - a fitting tip of the hat to Ron's cracking art.

To expensive to have someone restore, or would that not be authentic enough for the collection? (Or both?)

Proudhuff

According to our catalogue the NLs has copies of the Daily Star for these dates, I'll order them up and see if the strips survive.

That's good to know, even if they won't look that good. Could contact details be added in case anyone buying the book has their own copy and isn't aware of their being missing. If they do turn up  maybe they could be added to Vol 2?

In an ideal world, there would be room for a short history of the strip (by Leigh S?)

Let me know if you need higher-res copies of my BL print outs.

And I'd like to echo the thanks of everyone here for going above and beyond the call of duty. Vol 2 should be much easier, the only problem being trying to keep up with the Daily Star's own mistakes!

Good man, Huff.

James Stacey

Were they printed on the same date in the different papers?

a brilliant move i might add,
even if we do not find them in this method, the ability to remind and promote is always a great one.

The National Library of Scotland has all four, I've looked them out and read em. :D

We can do High Res images for publication, I'm sure your guys are used to dealing this sort of thing: http://www.nls.uk/using-the-library/copying-services   http://www.nls.uk/using-the-library/copying-services/permission-fees

I'm happy to help out at this end.
