I guess this is a side effect of the increased demand for digital products and the reduction of the print. Doesn't matter if people buy these instead, people will still buy the digital copies of the original GN with all the stories in.

I would imagine physical sales collected editions still exceed digital sales by quite a bit.

Would be nice to know what they are actually going to be putting out there for this collection. What comes under '& others' or 'Robot Rampage'?

Well, considering there's a vote for your favourite Dredd-verse character further down the page, I'd have to assume that the "others" besides Anderson must be Devlin Waugh, Chopper, P.J. Maybe and so on. Although I'm not familiar with all the stories featuring robots, I imagine that Robot Rampages will include the likes of the first Robot Wars storyline and possibly Mandroid besides Mechanismo next issue too. The only one I'm curious about is Mad City, which I can only guess to be a collection of the more madcap, outright mental storylines.

Anyway, like a few other posters, I have no problem with the disjointed order at all, as the Dredd universe is one of those worlds you discover more and more about as stories overlap one another, or a seemingly one-off tale is expanded into something greater, and so forth.

The Dredd strip isn't a preconceived story building towards a definite climax, it's a bunch of largely random stuff that only appears to take on a shape and a direction when viewed in retrospect.

Hey, just like life! :D

How many times can one buy the same story?

^ This.

......But they do look rather lovely indeed. So it may be a case of cherry picking select releases.

Nice that they, appear, to be not exact re-issues of previous collections. The promise of additional contents sounds rather nice. And those covers are excellent.

Quite keen to see the DoC release when it comes around. And if i can find the first one somewhere, then £2.99 is no great loss, is it.

No sign of them in Belfast today, which us a shame because at 2.99 for a HC of America I'd buy about 10 and give 9 away to lure readers.
If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

Oh God. Buy the first four just so I can get I Am The Law bookends for the Case Files shelf?
Probably worth noting that this would be the first four deliveries and not the first four books—and the fifth delivery for anyone starting with issue 1. So you're talking 76–79 quid by that point.

Interestingly some of the promotional material shows pre-all colour Dredd splash pages (ie the old colour first two pages) in B&w line work rather than coloured or (per the casefiles) desaturated versions. If the material comes out like that  I assume it would be a first (although not too sure what IDW do on their Bolland / Ezquerra / Kennedy collections)
If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

I love the colouring on the Jed Clampett / Ron Smith page on this IDW release.

Any chance anyone who has a copy of the first book could post some snaps here?  ...a review even?
Thanks if so.

As someone else has said the size might be clincher to me, judging (no pun etc etc) by the photo here I'm guessing they've been shrunk?

Good stuff. That's saved me a few quid.

OK, spent a pleasurable few hours last night reading this so for those asking the contents are:

A story so far intro at the front.
America, America II and all of the Cadet Beeny stories (plus a couple of bonus Macneil Dredds at the end).
A background article by Molch-R
Character sketches of America and Bennett by Macneil.
Covers gallery.

All in all, a decent package and a bargain at £2.99!

Ooof those look a bit nice don't they? Might have to seriously consider that...

So what size is the book compared to a typical 2000 AD trade?

No sign of this in Forbidden Planet London or WH Smiths Oxford Street yesterday. If anyone sees a copy in the London area let us know. Looks like a nice package.
