Jonny's nose is broken and reset that way.

Quote from: Carlos Ezquerra interview in DogbreathSTEVE:     What part of Johnny's distinctive look are you most pleased about?

CARLOS:    I suppose his face with the sad look on it, the broken nose and the curly hair. He can be dressed in different ways but you have always been able to recognize him.

Interesting, I always thought it was just the way Carlos draws a lot of his male characters.

Thing is, to do it - the brow would need to be built up as well, not sure if it would be too much of a distraction, or he would slightly alien like a STNG alien of the week...

Skullmo

Just get an ugly bruser to play him . . .
It's a joke. I was joking.

Bolt-01

The westinghouse is a thing of beauty. It was a real treat to get to see it up close.

My gut reaction is to agree that a prosthetic is not the way to go. It'd be unnecessary to add extra CGI too surely.

I think best to ignore the broken nose. That or break the Actor's nose...

The helmet looks great I reckon. It's notoriously hard to draw, whenever I've tried it's always looked too big-I think the proportions look spot on.

Steve Green

Cheers - I can't wait to see the finished one myself...

ZenArcade

Is Alphas helmet not a piece of military kit. I seem to remember the protruding front bit at the front contained a camera. It may be some Soviet Dis union special forces kit. I read in one of the early annuals or specials that his striped top was based on the Russian Spetsnaz Issue garment.
I like the helmet on display but in terms of the variable cartridge Westinghouse; I always liked Simon Harrison's honed down, simple, lethal looking design. Z

Yeah... it's horrible to draw, but looks absolutely spot on here. Can't wait to see the finished thing...

Cheers,

we had a fitting with the actor, and it looks great on him.

The sculpt is back with Planet Replicas, so that a mould can be made, plus making the green material rougher.

As for the Westinghouse

Dan made a simpler, more streamlined version ages ago, but we're trying to keep Carlos' style as much as we can.

Even within Carlos' version it changes a huge amount - we settled on the triangular barrel version, but even with that the flat side swaps sides, depending on the story.

The whole outfit is pretty hard to nail down as it's so fluid compared to Dredd's.

The Bandolier/Shoulder pads and helmet are a fairly consistent theme - just a case of trying to make the scales work.

ZenArcade

Steve, I think what you people are doing is great. They're just observations about the Westinghouse. Carlos was the creator and absolutely it is his vision that should be portrayed. Z

Maybe it isn't the helmet, just that Alpha's head was too small...
