Neill Blomkamp's upcoming film, looks like a cross between Wall E and Appleseed!

Looking forward to it!  :D

Yep! I used to love Short Circuit as a kid, probably not so much now (storywise that is).

I'll give it a go. I loved D9 but Elizium was a bit of a groaner.

Agreed. District 9 was superb but looks like it might have been a fluke, post-Elysium which was - neat visual trickery and production design aside - a proper stinker in my book.

But if he ever gets to make a Star Wars or Halo film (written by someone else) then sign me up!

CrazyFoxMachine

yeah "the maker of District 9" without mentioning Elysium says volumes really. Shame - from the trailers alone I thought that looked fun.

THIS however, looks good. It's god fckn Die Antwoord in it as well who are gloriously nuts.

Link Prime

Elysium is on that (shortish) list of movies that I fell asleep while watching.
The litmus test is of course if I'll ever bother going back to rewatch it, or at least the last 30 minutes.

I won't, but Blomkamp got himself three free passes for District 9.
I'm on for this.

Loved District 9, loved Elysium. This looks awesome. Sold.

Bad City Blue

Oh dear... this looks bloody awful. A mish mash of ideas already done to death, the tugging of the heartstrings obvious from outer space just in the trailer!

...and Wolverine's a baddie and Sigourney Weaver's in there somewhere too...

Are you lot absolutely certain I didn't just dream this?

Peas sell. But who's Brian?

Hmmm.  The themes are indeed old hat, but it looks very nice, and yay Die Antwoord.  Shame about the crashingly awful dialogue on display there.

While I loved Blomkamp's Disrict 9, I was less than impressed with the lacklustre Elysium and this new effort does look horribly derivative, if visually arresting.
At least they've hired an actor of real Asian heritage, unlike Fisher Steven's 'It Ain't Ain't Half Hot Man' portrayal in Short Circuit!

It all looks a bit Crappie (sorry) if I'm honest.

Dunno if this got any attention on the board - Blomkamp recently Instagrammed a load of concept art from a now-defunct project that looks like it would have been a direct sequel to Aliens (perhaps ignoring the less popular franchise entries like Superman Returns did with III and IV). Seems like it may have been a proper pitch, though Blomkamp seemed to suggest that it wasn't the studios decision to shut it down, and he hints that he may return to it at some point.

I must admit it looks intriguing. A bit of a fanboy wet dream, which can be a bad thing, but on balance I'd have much rather had this than Promethe-arse (I still maintain that Prometheus 2 will never happen).

The hilarious bit is Hugh Jackman with the binoculars peeping around the wall and uttering, "What in the name of the lord!" like a nosey neighbour.
