I've just bought issue 1208 on eBay for ?53. Who would have thought it? ?53 for a three year old issue of a ?1.40 comic. I must be mad. But it was the only issue I needed. Having collected 2000ad from the very beginning (and all it's sister publications and merchandise etcetc) I was a bit miffed when I didn't receive my copy of issue 1208. I looked high and low for it at the time and never found it, until a copy turned up on eBay the other week. You'll understand if I paid a little over the odds, just to complete my collection (my max bid was ?96 by the way, just to show you how much I wanted that issue). Which brings me to my point - Over the last three years, since my collection has been incomplete I've been looking at all the space it took up in my house and thought - why am I keeping all these? I mean, it's not as if I read them all the time. I've probably read each issue once, twice? I probably won't get around to reading all of them again for a few years, if ever. So why not cancel my order and sell up? I'll get a few quid out of it and a few cupboards full of space. All this because I missed an issue. I'm sure I'm not the only long term fan, who missed this issue, who feels like this. Or maybe I am, it doesn't matter. What I'm trying to say is - why should it come to me spending ?53 on an issue that should have cost me ?1.40? I don't know if it's Rebellion's fault or not that this issue went a bit wrong on the distribution front. On the occassions that I've spoken to people at Rebellion, I always get a different answer - funny that. But I'm fed of excuses, it doesn't matter who's fault it was, the least they could have done is reprint the issue. I'm not the only one who needed #1208 - there are a lot of people with incomplete collections, who have been supporting old 'tooth' for the last 26 years - so come on Rebellion - sort yourselves out, stop thinking of yourselves and all the money you're milking out of the fans and reprint the issue for all the people who have supported 2000ad over the years. If you can give away a '2000ad Gold' supplement, why the heck can't you do the same for issue 1208!

I do occasionally ask Rebellion whether we can offer a pdf version of Prog 1208 in Tharg's Future shop or the download section of the site, but haven't managed to get further than a maybe yet.

The original issue wasn't submitted to the distributer in time so it didn't get distriburted properly.

I actually started selling off my progs fairly cheaply and then bought a whole load more which set me off again.  I'm pretty keen on not spending much however, and wouldn't be worried if iu didn't own 1208, I's probably just photocopy the dred story and stick it between my progs.

They are only bits of paper, relax.

Capt.Zeep

Good god, are you completely feckin mad spending that much on a comic?  (Zeep scurries upstairs to check & see if he's got said prog under his bed)

Rebellion should send you the money for your support! That is devotion of the highest order! While we are on the subject, does anyone know why Judgement Day and Die Laughing are so hard to get hold of?

Proudhuff

Yip! that's madness alright, but think, If you'd taken that money to the  pub, met a mate, had a curry and a few beers you'd have probably got in a fight ended up in hospital, caught a infection in there and died. So in fact this Prog has saved your life! and if you fancy a pint in the future, you can always sell it. That's the power of ZOOad.

For some reason I have three copies of Die Laughing #1 but no #2.
Obe of them is signed so not getting rid of that but if someone is in need of #1 all they have to do is get me a copy of #2. I wont hold my breath.

Comics Showcase in Charing Cross Road had multiple copies of all the Dredd/Batman cross-overs when I visited last December. The first three are in the American Prestige format, the fourth in the U.K. size news-stand format.

Judgement Day was published just before Hamyln lost their license so they didn't print multiple runs of it. Or so I'm told.

?53.00 for prog 1208 - Bargain! I don't think it will be long before we see prices topping ?1,000 for that particular Prog!

That is an amazing price but I do know what you mean about finishing collections.I felt the same way when I got the last of the JD Chronicles and also when I finished my 2000ad collection (albeit with a few missing covers) but that is a serious amount of money for one prog, even though I knew I had it I just went upstairs to check.

And thanks DavidXBrunt, nice to know why Judgement day was so rare. Finally got my copy of that one as well, and for loads less than it normal goes for :)

Now I know you're taking the piss!

Tarantino

Who? Me? No way! You should get in there now, before they are all snapped up by shrewed investors. I already have 6 million copies.
