I doubt shrew-ed investors are allowed to spend their money on comics.

Wake

Another copy is on sale now. IMO, this prog is worth ?20, though I predict it will sell this time around for between ?20 and ?50.

Make that 2 copies on eBay this week. The one above starting at ?9.99 and still with no bids and another at $65 (?40.69)...someone chancing their luck after seeing what the last copy went for.

Tarantino

I'll soon be ?1,000, mark my words......and how do you spell shrewed?

karne

There's just no stopping some folk when it comes to bagging themselves a bargain, and that's just what the local shrew population has been doing this week as rare issues of popular boys comic 2000ad went under the hammer. Best get a move on Mr Shrew, at prices like these, they're sure to sell like hot cakes!

A shrew(d) comics investor yesterday.

paulvonscott

Shrewd.

Was it you Tarantino that sent that letter to Comics International telling everyone the prices would be going up?

Sounds like self fulfilling prophecies to me, panicking people in to buying these things.

Slippery PD

Thing is if the prices are artificially inflated then only one thing can happen.  Prices will fall!!

Then there will be losers.
One thing about worth, its only worth as much as someone is willing to pay.  2000ad has a limited audience (i expect) so once that amrket is full there will be no one left to buy.......  and then once again the prices will fall.

This is a fools market where value is hiked!  Its not like buying a house, you dont have to own a comic.   the problem is that buying online increases the price, going to Fairs, Junk shops and Jumble sales will get you a "bargain".  So save yer money and shop around.

Yer Slippo

Couldn't someone offer to photocopy it for anyone who wants them to, or is that a) illegal or b) taboo?

I wouldn't mind doing it for an SAE, but don't want to be naughty nor attract Tharg's wrath.

paulvonscott

I can't imagine rebellion would mind, it's one issue that wasn't properly distributed, and is just one issue.

ukdane

Yeah, but it's the top rung of a slippery slope.

Personally it's just the Dredd and Sin Dex that I'm interested in from that prog, so ?50 for 12 pages is way more than I'd pay...

paulvonscott

True, but Rebellion can't really make any money from that prog as it stands, unlike earlier issues in the new collections (which I assume won't get to 1208) and who knows the money people save, they might choose to spend on a nice new set of mugs.

Marbles

Had a look at my (now safely bagged - I had no idea it was rare) #1208 last night.

Frankly its not worth 53p let alone ?53.
Nice Henry Flint Dredd, but the rest is dire - we've come a long way in the last few years!
Remember - dry hair is for squids

Wake

Except that I want them to sell it as a pdf file for, say, ?1 or ?2 in Tharg's Future Shop.

IMO, one person sending some photocopies to another person is morally justifyable in this case...but scanning and placing on a website...or making a large number of copies would definitely be inappropriate.

Wake

Oddboy

Can't you just put the episodes from 1208 up on the Thrillviewer?
Better set your phaser to stun.
