An ethical question.

I was wondering, would people here feel that creating mutated genetic freaks that look and act just like pokemon would be wrong? Assuming it would take several horrific failures to guide things on the right path.

If it worked it'd be great but would it be worth the tortuous half-life granted to the rejects?

If you like they could be digimon instead...

I once read an sf short story that, as a throwaway, had gen engineered cute minature dinosaurs as pets. Also they were gened so you had to buy special, very expensive, food as they were designed to puke anythign else.

When I read several years ago I thought it was only a matter of time

Surely this will happen. As real life applications of genetic engineering become required, the leisure and recreation market will become more desirable. Look at plastic surgery, does anybody nowadays really doubt that in ten-twenty years it will be the same here as america, where 16 yr old girls will want a boob job for their birthday. It is part of the natural acceptance for new technologies. Mind you, I cant wait for my Snorlax to arrive.
