A tenth anniversary quiz

I'm sure this question will be answered almost immediately, but here's a quick quiz from your mighty fish.

Which 2000AD free gift celebrates its tenth anniversary very soon?

A clue: it was one that could actually be used.
I still have mine, and use it for marking the wallpaper when I'm decorating. Sacrilege, I know, but these things cannot be preserved forever.

What is it, and does anyone else still have it?

The Writers' Starter Kit?

My brother used his until it was all sharpened out (quite amusing seeing the various characters having there heads shaved)

I've got an unused one in my new back-collection.
I'm not being precious about keeping it minty or anything, but I'm not letting myself use the free gifts until I've re-read the prog they came with.

It was indeed the writers' starter kit.

Mine has been used and used and used, as your King's gift to his subjects, to make everyone else's worth more money.

One of my most favourite 2K letters is the one where someone threatened Tharg with sharpening the pencil so the mighty one's head would disappear!

Anyway, who made use of their pencil?
Who actually used it to write with?

And has anyone actually fulfilled its purpose and become a writer?

It just occurred to me when sifting through back progs that its tenth anniversary was coming up.

I wanted to ask people to share their pencil experiences (oo-er) with me because it's my favourite 2000AD free gift.

I still have mine and use it to note corrections in letters and cripts I submit to 2000AD.

One day, I hope it will be used to correct the spelling mistakes as I proof read the letter I send to Tharg accepting his generous terms of payment for my 1000-page Judge Dredd epic "Knobopolis".

At the moment however, it is mainly used to keep note of the feedback I get in rejection letters....

yes, but i bet no-one here has any of the old EDIBLE free gifts from tooth...well I do! i have a prog (as already said on the chat room), over 20 years old, mint condit, with the BUBBLE GUM still on the cover. it smells lovely...ahem...

Mighty Troot, i once wrote to the Mighty Tharg trying to get my pencil replaced, maybe he printed the letter... oh, I'm all a tizzy, any idea when that letter was published?
