"This is Jack Staff. Once he was the greatest thread on the 2000AD Forum. Then he vanished. But your probably wondering, if he was so great why did he vanish 12 years ago? Here's why..."

...Or some such as the Image #1 say's.

In my hands I hold the very first Jack Staff volume, Everything Used to be Black and White, collecting the entire 12 issue independently published series. I'm adoring Demon Nic in the meg right now, so i'm taking the plunge with this and let's hope it's reputation holds up.

Well worth it too. Read this recently(ish) and its bloomin' great stuff. As ever Paul Gris is promising the return of Mudman, his latest work of wonder, before the end of the year. If you enjoy Jack Staff I'd heartily recommend picking up the first trade of Mudman before it returns (unless of course you are already on with it?).

I am wondering why he vanished years ago. I believe it's to do with sales.

Hawkmumbler

Just finished the first volume and instantly ordered the next 3 (plus Mudman). One of those rare instances where everything you love is distilled into one comic. Vampires! The Avengers meets LOEG! The Steel Claw! Dads Army! Arsom art work! STEPTOE AND SON AS VAMPIRE HUNTERS! TOMTOM THE ROBOT MAN!

So yeah...it was OK.

Blimey, SUCH an old thread - how weird to read posts that you don't remember in the slightest  :o
Anyway, there's a bunch of Jack Staff title incarnations, that have their GN counterparts, and i'd recommend them all  :)

STEPTOE AND SON AS VAMPIRE HUNTERS!

:o Buying. This. NOW!
It's every bit as great as it sounds! "HAROOOLD!"

Hawk I hope you know the pain every glimpse of your avatar is causing me. Bring back Jack Staff!

Hawkmumbler

Well I live in hope the Jack Staff/Invincible/Savage Dragon mini gets off the ground one day. Grist promised to illustrate that.

Currently flipping my way through Volume 2: Soldiers and the transition to colour has really added to the feel of the series. Utterly delightful once again and nice to see Captain Hurricane again.
