I love that prog 46 cover, all the enemies of the Star Slayers, strapped to stars orbiting their home planet! Great scifi stuff!

What a way to launch their new format (Dare story page on the front cover)!  There's also a few alien races I don't think we ever saw before or since on those stars...

Saturday's post - Prog 49: Death to the intruders! - Dredd is believed dead (not for the first time) and quits the force (not for the first time).  And probably the biggest character death we've seen in the prog so far...

Prog 53: That thing already has my face, my voice, my memories! And now… it’s got my ship! came out.

John Probe returns, we get to see where Walter's pleasure circuit was installed and I reveal my pet hate.

Today's post was: Prog 54: We’re under attack! Can’t see — can’t *gasp* even think! Aargh!

I learn the difference between a shoal of fish and a school of fish, thanks to Belardinelli (kinda).

I could imagine Walter going crazy with a label maker one day and putting multiple tags on Dredd's lawgiver!

You might be on to something there - the latest Wite to Walt has something about Walter sewing Dredd's name into his long johns...

As we enter the weekend, another two episodes have gone live...

Prog 58: L-look! Out there — it’s as big as a street-block! Yeah — an’ with our motor reactors DEAD, we’re completely at it’s mercy!
What's the difference between cliffhanging and cliffhangering?  Bolland and McMahon share art duties on Dredd's last Luna-1 story.  Gary Leach makes his first appearance.

Prog 59: Mega City Beware – the Judge is back!
Dan Dare and some crew member we've never met before try Viagra (or something that sounds very much like it) before plunging deep.  I also remember to mention that the co-founder of Forbidden Planet and Titan Books is writing stories for the prog now.

This stuff with the Zeebs is really a prime example of Dan Dare deciding to wipe out an alien race because they've vaguely inconvenienced him. Classic battle-action playset stuff!

I'm sure his crimes will come back to haunt him some day!

I noticed something about one of the stamp adverts in Prog 58, so have updated the blog with the following...
Quote from: me
f I’m not mistaken, this week’s Nerve Centre features the first contribution from a reader who will go on to be famous (admittedly this one would be famous in 2000AD circles only. Adrian Salmon presents a ‘hyper punk’ riding a bike. I missed this first time I read, but I also noticed that one of the obligatory stamp adverts looks like it’s been thrown together by the 2000AD editorial team – “? Can you name these planets – If so, you must have bionic eyes. Send us the correct answer and we’ll send you a selection of Zrag Stamps on approval plus your free 101 galaxy wide stamps. Martin Stamp Service (Dept 2000), 78 Barsoom Rd, Helium, Mars”

Back to regular programming...

Prog 60: M.A.C.H.1 meet your replacement… M.A.C.H.2!
A cyborg special this prog, with MACH 1, MACH 2 (if 2 can be called a cyborg) and Artie Gruber, back from the dead!

Prog 61: Judge Dredd brings law to the… Cursed Earth!
Dredd's return to Mega-City One - heralded for two progs, spends one and half progs on the streets, then leaves for the Cursed Earth a prog later!  Also, Remember the Great Germ War!  No, me neither...

There are specific dates given in Harlem Heroes and Inferno - but I seem to recall that they imply that Inferno takes place about 130 years after Harlem Heroes. Or, possibly, the dates given in Inferno bear no realtion to the ones in Harlem Heroes.

Time distortion, that's what it is.

The one I've just read (coming to the blog on Tuesday, I think) says that it's been two years since the game where Artie Gruber was first engulfed by flames in a match with Clay and one year since cyber-Gruber last faced Clay, which would have been in 2050 (because that's the world championship they were aiming at).  I haven't seen any other dates given in Inferno itself, just extrapolating and comparing to Harlem Heroes.  I've been making notes of dates as I go along (not just in Harlem Heroes/Inferno, but also in other stories), but not tried putting them all together yet...

Gruber returns in Inferno, Spikes Harvey Rotten returns in The Cursed Earth.

Prog 63: Beware of… RATS..! The Devil’s Lapdogs
Kids get bikes, mum's get cookers and dads get greenhouses!
