Considering all this talk about missing blighty food, this might seem a bit odd.  The one food that I do miss is a real good schnitzel.  When we were at Kaiserslautern in the early eighties it was something special going out to the local Gasthaus for a meal.  Either straight or with a Jaeger sauce.  Fond memories.

Oh, and my hair. Definitely missing that. :(

I grew up in Germany. German food tends to get a bad rap (even from some Germans), but I'm quite a big fan. You can actually get a decent bratwurst, currywurst and landjaeger in Portland, apparently it was a big hipster/foodie craze a few years ago. Sauerkraut, kartoffelnsalat... it's all good!

When we were living in London I discovered a German deli in Borough Market - it was like walking into food nostalgia heaven!

Oh, and speaking of chips, I always liked in Germany they would sprinkle paprika on chips. Really tasty. Chips are also good with Maggi sauce - a kind of concentrated savoury stock that tastes a bit like soy sauce. They put that shit on everything over there.

Old Tankie

Season ticket at Spurs, firing a tank 120mm gun.

well if you been firing tanks at footie matchies no wonder they wont give you a season ticket ;)

Even if Spurs were firing the ball through a high velocity gun, they still wouldn't win. Z

Right! That's another one for my list!  >:(  ;)

Lock up your spoons!

Pacers, at least I think that's what they were called. Mint flavoured, looked a bit like Chewits but with wavy green and white lines running through them. Tasty!

Cheers

Having a flat belly no matter how much beer I drank. Raving on dance floors. The feeling that life would get better and better. Having said all that, I think I'm generally happier now.

I know what you're saying. I often get all misty-eyed about the past and feel envious of the young, and then I remember that I was miserable and kinda introverted and lonely for the majority of my teens and early twenties, and I'm infinitely happier and better-off now!

This, completely.

I miss being able to bend over suddenly without my back making loud cracking noises.

I miss specific secondhand bookshops that are no more, all-day RPG sessions with my mates and having disposable income. Although all three never existed at the same time.
