Sarah Michelle Gellar has said Buffy will be over at the end of the current season.
In an interview with US magazine Entertainment Weekly the high-kicking star said:
"Buffy, in this incarnation, is over."
The seventh series is currently on Sky One and on TV in the US.
It'll end with a five-part story, which will include the return of Faith, the bad-girl slayer, and Buffy's first love, Angel.
"We're gearing up to tell a fabulous, huge, great arc. It's going to be pretty spectacular," said Sarah.
The sixth series is still being shown on BBC2 in the UK.
There have been loads of rumours of Buffy finishing soon.
There may be a spin-off series starring Faith.
Sarah wants to make more films, and the sequel to Scooby Doo is out in 2004.

Well I'd heard that Buffy Series 8 would be starring Faith & no Buffy - so that ties in nicely.

Ah well- guess it was past its prime anyway.  I don't see how Angel will be in it if he's with another network though- wasn't that one of the things that all concerned said would never happen again?

Anyway, past its best or not- it's still one of the few things that me and my better half can actually enjoy together.

TV-wise, that is.
Pffft...

No I was told there is a new deal where crossovers can happen.

I don't like SMG much (season four onwards she just got too irratting) and I don't like Faith much.  Actually I'm not sure what i do like any more.  I was a fan for the first three seasons though.

Has anyone else read the Fray comics?  They mentioned a suitably apocalyptic end for an unspecified (but decidedly Buffy-esque) slayer, and since they were written by Mr Whedon it might be a hint at what's coming.

Matt Timson

Yeah, I kind of get the feeling that Buffy acts way too young for her character- maybe that's why she seems so irritating.

I like Faith though- she hasn't got a nose that looks like somebody's stuck a flesh coloured "Tootie Fruitie" on the end of it for a start.  That and the fact that she actually looks as though she might be able to kick your ass...

The Bad news for Faith fans of course, is that Eliza Dushku (sp) has already signed to appear in the pilot of a new series called "Heroine". If that takes off, she won't be able to Do a faith series.
It is possible that this is a red herring, that Joss Wheadon has leaked, but It's more likely that any new series would star Dawn- in order to get back to the high school shenanigans.
The Buffy cartoon is rumoured to still be in production. And Giles' "Ripper" has been put on the back burner.
There was also an inkling in one of the reports that I read that Angel might also get hte heave-ho- although IIRC Fox (or whoever currently airs BTVS) were to produce 2 more seasons of this if WB were to cancel it.

Yeah I've heard that Dawn the Vampire Slayer (ie bak to school for Buffy take two) is the most likely follow-up... yawn, Faith would be much better and a possible revival for the series. Pity about Ripper as that sounded interesting.

After the failure of Firefly I heard Wheadon was getting out of TV

For me the Slayer jumped at the beginning of this terrestrial series...

The last season of Buffy (the one with the three nerds) was just dull. They tried thier best to do something else but failed. I've haven't watched the new series because of it.
Angel is still good though, it's got that 'darker' edge.
But if Faith comes back, oh boy, I'll be ther. Mmmmm Faith the vampire slayer.

Devons Daddy

just wont be the same for my son and i. this was tv on two levels. lots of scary monsters for a 5 year old.and sexy girls sweating and wearing nice things for daddy. plus a great story line.most of the time.
but seven good years.and whilst it had some hicups it never really jumped the shark.
I AM VERY BUSY!
PJ Maybe and I use the same dictionary, live with it.

NO 2000ad no life!

No spoilers, but the current series of Buffy on Sky is a welcome returned to form.

Keep watching the end of the current terrestrial series. the last few episodes are pretty good.

Oddboy

And last night's Sky1 Angel was frikkin' funny!

Buffy fanboys, don't take it personal, but what does anybody see in Buffy? Its a lazy, uninspiring, unfunny money machine that does nothing new for the vampire genre. What annoys me most is its lazy association of ugly with evil. Whatever happen to the British vampire thing Ultraviolet?

Hey, there's some perfectly ugly nice-guys & some baddies with well defined cheekbones.
