So the wife got home last night late from work.  Youngest daughter feeling tired and sensitive so we plonked down to watch a bit of telly and have a cwtch.  Wife walks in, takes one look at the telly and starts to give me a row.

"I don't believe it, you are NOT getting her into MASH!"

"Mam, Mash is awesome!" replies my daughter.

Guess getting my eldest daughter into Star Wars and comics hasn't gone down too well either.  Still working on tooth.

Well your daughter is objectively correct. Plus an early crush on Hawkeye sets the bar high for future bad-boy relationships.

I have to fight to keep my wife from getting the kids into her complete boxsets of Xena, but she pulled a fast one and subjected them to Young Hercules while I was working weekends.

Still, I had my revenge: yesterday I bought the Boy a Warhammer 40k starter set* for Crimbass.  Bwah-hah-hah.

* Which he's been asking for since he wasn't tall enough to see onto the tables in the GW shop. Plus it doubles as my present too, so it makes perfect economic sense.

I think your wallet will soon call that a pyrrhic victory Tordels.

I can imagine the reverse happening in our household. Mrs IP really likes MASH, but I never got into it. Mini-IP seems more interested in iPhone apps than telly, though.

And well I know it! I've been coming up with excuses and alternatives for at least 4 years now, and seeing as this is the first year in all that time that I've been working more-than-full-time and just about able to afford the starter I figured I couldn't put it off any longer.  Hopefully he'll hate it and this'll be the end of it, but in the meantime I'm looking forward to the two of us glueing and painting together, plus I'm going to try to make some terrain to add to the present if I ever get a day off... (I've been making the kids' Christmas presents for so long now it feels weird not to be spending December in my freezing shed cursing into the wee hours).

It was either this or a PS4 (Although gawds bless the retro-game fad, my lad and his mate have been playing my original X-Box non-stop for weeks, and I had the unusual foresight to buy up a decent library of games for a handful of euros when the 360 took over....)

Heh, i've a few built but unpainted models of my Tyrannid army from W40K sitting around somewhere.

M*A*S*H is good, but I hardly ever in the mood to watch this.

Hadn't thought about that one.  Bugger.  At least she's learning the appropriate attitude towards anal authority though.

My eldest daughter wants the Lego Star Wars Shuttle Tydirium.  No way is she going to be able to build that by herself.  She is definitely going to need help! ;)

You're raising those kids right, squire.

As to Dr Pearse, gotta be a better romantic imprinting than Dr House.

Had to translate the spelling for a brief moment but aye,  Dr House would be a rather disturbing one.  Although my wife sees way too many parallels with me.  Mainly the high levels of cynicism rather than the narcissism and drug addiction (unless we count the tooth).  What do you expect when you've worked for the government most of your adult life?

Have you told her she wants this yet?  ;)

Have you tried Valerian and Laureline?

If they don't like W40K, maybe you can use some of the figures in the JD miniatures game...
