I experienced somw pretty strange weather over the weekend.

It rained icicles, between 1cm and 6cm long for most of Sunday.

Has anyone else experienced any unusual weather like this?

You should write into Fortean Times.  They used to print stuff like this all the time.

That?s very weird...

Heavy rain looks kind of like its elongated, but that?s apparently just an optical effect, so my initial thoughst that it might be rain that somehow got flash-frozen is wrong.

Ouch, very bizarre, what are the science dudes saying? or aren't you blessed in denmark with BBCesque analysis upon such vital matters as the weather?
what did the European health & saftey exec' say about allowing such lethal objects to be precipitating randomly?

ukdane

None I've spoken to except Mrs Dane seems to have noticed it. But we did. I picked them up to show her. They were just like mini-icicles.

Very strange.

It's snowing here again!:-(

Very strange

Borderline fortean, I'd say.

"Were there a lot of them?"

That's also pretty strange- it didn't "Rain" like normal. There were a lot of them, but they fell extremely sparsely. I actually wondered if it was something falling of a plane (as we live within walking distance of the airort). I'd say they fell in spats throughout the day (when it was light).

Yeah that's what I was wondering... icicles fall from planes all the time.

I can't think how they could be a natural ... to get to any reasonble size they would have to be refrozen several times (like hailstones) and end up round

Avoid yellow ones!

Don't touchthe loo bloo ones either!!

Just a thought, are there any trees immediatley above the affect area?

ukdane

The trouble with the Airplane theory is that the icicles fell in a fairly large area, all day. If it was more concentrated, or most likely fallen over a short period of time, then I would have guessed it was froma plane. Also the clouds were Mega-grey.

There are tree's nearby, but not in the direct area that they fell. Also I did look at some trees (specifically pines) and there were no icicles (or snow) on them.

Today it's been snowing all day.

My conclusion: It really did rain icicles.
