can anyone suggest some nice websitesto buy dvds from other than play.com and amazon who aren't that brilliant anyway.....

"Deep Discount" is excellent for R1 discs, as for R2 I usually use Play, they used to be more efficent with delivery etc, but they're still reasonable pricewise.

I can highly recommend dvdboxoffice.
Often they are the cheapest Region 1 suppliers and offer an excellent service. Remember to pay in canadian dollers with your card, it's cheaper.
Apart from Play247 I also use Splash.com.
Often they beat Play for prices, but are region 2 only.
Play & Splash always have a great amount of discount dvd's too.
Boxoffice often have a lot of new releases on sale before they are released.

If anyone's interested Dredd is available on play.com in a 'two for ?14.99' offer.

I'm buying it and I don't care who knows!!!

Pretty good for DVDs, excellent for CDs (and OK for games - but use Argos for new PS2 games in the UK).

If you're really desperate for the Dredd movie, go for the region 1 version- it might be missing the making of doc.But at least it's uncut- oooh mean machine actually head butts!

The best version of the Dredd film is probably the Dutch Region 2 DVD. Not only is it uncut it contains the best features, apparently.

As for who I'd recommend for cheap DVDs, there's play.com and deepdiscount as mentioned previously as well as FutureEntertainment whose prices include free delivery. Amazon.com is friendly and efficient but a wee bit costly when it comes to shipping. Good luck to you if you try setting up an account with DVDEmpire.

Which reminds me, anyone got any news on the fabled directors cut?

Here's a wild and wacky idea, with apologies if anyone has suggested it before. But what about a free cover mounted dvd, which escorts you round the rebellion think tank, interviews with the might Wagner, Grant, Flint, Esquerra, ect. It could feature a sexy stills art gallery, and soundbites from all the top bods. Yeah, true, it would probably be prohibitively expensive to produce- but one can dream. what do guys think?

Play is by far the best place for region 2 bargains. As for Amazon, it's good for reviews and info but why would anyone pay for postage? For region 3 & 4 I mostly use cd-wow. For region 1 movietyme and futureent are pretty good but I'd steer well clear of splash - their delivery times are terrible.
