Picking up momentum and if folks who have already backed are like myself and thinking of adding some adds on that will boost further.

If common wisdom (well I say common I learnt it on this thread I think!) holds that you get a 1/3 in the last couple of days we should have a winner here. Fingers crossed and all that...

Just 4 days left.

As Colin says, anyone seeing the new rewards that have been added and regretting they've already made a miserly pledge needn't worry. John Wagner says if you go for one of the higher band rewards he'll deduct your shamefully low-ball initial bid from the total.

We can probably trust him not to run off with the cash and blow it all on alpacas.

The new rewards just added include the Bolland cover variant mentioned above, A3 prints by Bolland and Bisley, an exclusive A3 poster by Rok God Bisley, a bespoke A4 or A3 sketch by Judge Dredd artist Dan Cornwell (any subject), a page of original Judge Dredd art, and a genuine Judge Dredd script by his creator, John Wagner.

Get one of those or all of those, in any combination. Just get yourself over to the Kickstarter:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wagnerrok/rok-the-god

and, while you're there, get the free 22-page preview comic:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ymf73g5lyx1uata/ROK_the_God_FREE_PREVIEW_CHAPTER.pdf?dl=0

... and experience a truly original comic that spans the cosmos and every level of reality, from the microscopic to the monumental and truly intergalactic:

Look, you know I'm making a nuisance of myself, I know I'm being a pest, but there's only 7 grand to go before the Thursday deadline and then we can all get our comic.

The Kim Kardashian of 2000ad fandom - in that he's a social media influencer with a big arse - explains why this football comic really doesn't have much football in it at all. Take it away, Box Office John Burdis:

I'M MORE OF A RUGBY MAN, MYSELF

Would sir like to smell the cork of the Kickstarter?

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wagnerrok/rok-the-god

and can I interest the lady in the free 22-page preview comic?

3 DAYS LEFT TO GO

You wouldn’t think a new comic by John Wagner & Alan Grant, the duo who wrote Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog and almost every other British comic strip you enjoyed in the eighties, would be a hard sell.

Yet with the Kickstarter to fund the second original graphic novel of Rok the Arkadian’s adventures closing on Thursday (31st October), the big red alien’s currently falling just short of the target Wagner, Grant & artist Dan Cornwell set themselves.

There’s only one reason for that - FOOTBALL!  What should be the book’s strongest selling point turns out to be a handicap when persuading the core nerd constituency who back Kickstarter projects that Rok’s for them.

That perception problem persuaded the Kim Kardashian of 2000ad fandom, John Burdis - a social media influencer with a big arse - to produce a video explaining that Rok is a story about an alien, rather than a story about football:

https://youtu.be/Q9-c8tXwmrI

Readers who overcame their memories of being picked last at PE and took the plunge into the first series were delighted to find Rok has more in common with Wagner & Grant’s Doomlord work for Eagle than Roy Of The Rovers.

For legal reasons I can’t suggest that Rok’s a backdoor reboot of Doomlord, but it’s a backdoor reboot of Doomlord

The preview comic Wagner & Grant released of Book 2 (available here) shows this story in particular has more in common with something like Thor, with Rok reluctantly returning to his homeworld only to learn his queen is abdicating, putting him in the firing line of the various rivals to succeed her and take the throne.

Thor: RagnaROK - or King Lear meets The Hunger Games

While Rok’s outer space adventures provide the A-story, like every good episode of The Simpsons, there’s a hilarious B-story unfolding in parallel that threatens to upstage it. Rok’s departure has left his Earth-alter-ego, Kyle Dixon, and pain in the arse Nigel shrunk to the size of Action Men and stranded in the woods.

Land Of The Giants action as Kyle & Nige fight their way out of a dogging spot armed with toothpicks and work out how to use
a smartphone bigger than they are

Kyle and Nige’s Borrowers adventures in a landscape littered with Walkers crisp packets Gary Lineker left lying around and their comedy squabbling are the highlight of this book, with the revelation of Nige’s marital problems and his unfaithful wife’s cruel indifference to his plight especially funny.

It’s a story that would fit into classic 2000ad or eighties Eagle, and it’s one that you owe it to yourself to check out. But that won’t happen unless the Kickstarter meets its target by Thursday (31st October). Luckily, Wagner & Grant have provided plenty of rewards to make your decision to back the Kickstarter easy.

They include an edition of the book with a variant cover by the legendary Brian Bolland, A3 prints by Bolland and Rok God Simon Bisley, an exclusive A3 poster by Bisley, a bespoke A4 or A3 sketch by Judge Dredd artist Dan Cornwell (of any character).

Here’s a preview of the Brian Bolland cover, which the superstar artist was kind enough to share as a work in progress:

Me So Horny: If you know Brian Bolland, you’ll know his cover won’t be finished any time soon, but it’ll be absolutely perfect

You can buy the second book by itself or double up with a combo that’ll let you catch up with Rok’s first adventure before diving into the sequel. Further rewards include a page of original Judge Dredd art and a genuine Judge Dredd script by his creator, John Wagner.

To get one or all of those rewards, in any combination. Just get yourself over to the Kickstarter:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wagnerrok/rok-the-god

and, while you're there, get the free 22-page preview comic:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ymf73g5lyx1uata/ROK_the_God_FREE_PREVIEW_CHAPTER.pdf?dl=0

You can help two of the greatest creators in UK comics finish the story they want to tell on their own terms and experience a truly original comic that spans the cosmos and every level of reality, from the microscopic to the monumental and truly intergalactic.

Or 60 hours, as Kickstarter would have it. Nothing more to be said and no point saying it; just sticking this here as a reminder to any possible procrastinators.

Ah, go on.

Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, GO ON!

This month's Megazine Dredd artist and future superstar, Dan Cornwell, has created a unique, original avatar for Squaxx who want to show their support and spread the word on social media.

With less than 48 hours left to go to the end of the Rok Kickstarter and a few thousand still to be raised, it'd be great if we could turn the 2000ad and Dredd-themed Facebook groups into a sea of Rok avatars.

Show your support and create awareness in the same way you do whenever a tragedy happens, except this time you'll (hopefully) be helping something good happen!

Thanks to Dan for his great art. Remember to include a link to the Rok Kickstarter when Facebook automatically posts your change of avatar on your timeline:

If you're a real Rok jihadi, Dan's also created this cover banner for your home page:

I've backed it.

One thing - I think it would have been better not to have a digital version and lowered the price of the printed version a bit.

The print version costs what it costs. Having a cheaper digital version has no real bearing on the cost of the print version, just offers a cheaper option to those who might not have the money for the physical book.

Good man! An endorsement or genuine testimonial's better than a thousand words of PR blurb:

Good man! An endorsement or genuine testimonial's better than a thousand words of PR blurb:

Thank you, Frank, and apologies to Sinx for my rather brusque reply — I'm currently trying to do a day's work and fix an uncooperative laptop at the same time!

No excuse, though — thanks, Sinx. To clarify my original point: the price of the print edition is as cheap a quote as we could find and includes a substantial overprint so that 1) John and Dan will have copies to sell once the campaign concludes, and 2) to drive the unit cost of the print run down as much as possible (ie: to make the book as cheap as we can).

If we sold twice as many physical copies through the Kickstarter, it wouldn't change the cost of the print run…

The digital release is one of the reasons I backed it
