Just as I was about to say "no ones mentioned Beltane"...

DavidXBrunt

I got attacked on a number 26 bus in Manchester a few years ago because I didn't want a leaflet off a protestor. He kept screaming "Think for yourself you stupid f*ck*r!" at me and the pushing, and the shoving, and the screaming, and the...

So I hate May Day because it's an excuse for so called anarchists to muck about. It's all very well living outside the state and being your own person, but if you hate the state that much why do you still sign on? And wash your hair please, that is revolting?

Count yourself lucky, a beach at least sounds slightly romantic.

A similar victim of August Bank holidays, I was conceived in a caravan parked in a field near Tenby, South Wales, on May 4.

At the age of 17, while on holiday with my parents and new (first) girlfriend, we were driving along and my mother idly mentioned; "Oh look Michael, that field was where you were conceived". She didn't elaborate.

Super.

(though when asked when my birthday is, I do get to say "Star Wars Day". "Star Wars Day," they reply. "Yes," I say, "May the fourth be with you." And they fall for it every ... single ... time!)http://www.allfreeclipart.com/smiley/smile14.gif">

And what's so anarcho communist about owning a dog on a string? And if you were really an anarchist you wouldn't keep going home to mumsy at Christmas, would you? And how can you justify spending so much on those boots? YOU'VE GOT A MOBILE PHONE! YOU UTTER FRAUD! GET OFF THIS BUS NOW! YOU'VE NOT PAID!

I WILL NOT READ YOUR LEAFLET! NOW LEAVE ME ALONE!!

"I didn't want a leaflet off a protestor. He kept screaming "Think for yourself you stupid f*ck*r!" at me"

there's something quite ironic about that

I was about to make the same point as David did.  I even have a socialist background that would put tony blair to shame.  Erm he doesnt have one....  And did a fair amount of protesting during my student days.  But why-o-why do you insist on destroying this that and the other, when it wont be big business that foots the bill but we taxpayers and to top it off you sign on but dont want a job.  Then you complain about lack of money with the cigarette hanging out yer mouth.....  Crikey!  Give me a break!

Everyone in my family has a birthday in august, I assume its coz of the crap weather in November and there is feck all to do!  I am Scots after all.

Finally its my mums birthday today.  happy Bday Ma

Blasted anti-capitalist swines have a website to co-ordinate things.  Probably made on an IBM using Microsoft Windows.

Better set your phaser to stun.

Actually, I meant I was BORN on May 4 but conceived some time before.

About nine months before, in fact.

Yeah- there was a great bit of footage from a couple of years ago showing an outraged protester putting a bin through a sports shop window.

His stance on the exploitation of child labour in the far east might have been a little more laudable if a) the owner of the shop were able to buy his stock elsewhere and b) the protester hadn't been wearing a pair of Nike trainers at the time.

Silly twat.
Pffft...

Okay, i am also against mindless acts of stupidity & violence... but any other suggestions for getting the fashist scumbags in power ( which ever lot they are?) to listen to the people? yeah peaceful protest obviously, but ..would we still be paying poll tax if it wasnt for those riots... oh yeah i only just finished paying mine off last year. should we all become politicians to get our views across? cos anyone i ever knew who did so soon became an apathetic tool of the establishment.

better ideas to free the world from global expoiltation & poverty? please discuss.

( i'm going to regret this i know... i'll tell yous later my solution to the problem of saving the universe. meanwhile i better go vote)http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:QRaD_jnZbW0C:www.wfloe.fsnet.co.uk/wsubs1files/bodicer-2.jpg">

You make a good point Boo.  But all the rioting in Scotland didnt change the poll tax it was a march in england and a Rejection from "Middle England" (whoever they are).

My point is not the disenchantment of the voters from politics, but that mass rioting and shouting dont actually work.  The only way to change something is to do it from the inside.  That how Hitler did it, thats how Thatcher did it, thats how Blair is doing it.  You get elected by appearing to be what people want and then you subtely change it.  It aint rocket science it just works.

Unfortunately most people are hypocrites the say I dont want child labour or mass poverty, but when say someone says OK your tax will have to pay for it they say "too many problems here mate we need to sort that out".

As for solutions well thats a politicians job, not mine.  Im too busy trying to feed my family, keep a roof over our heads and work for a multinational.

Where has my socialism gone???

Pah. Anarchy is the only answer. To hell with governments and science and society it should be every person for themselves.

Pamphlets. Pff! If everyone was united in a spirit of laziness and cooperation then the worlds economies would fall.

So join me brothers and sisters! Drop your tools of work! Cast off the shackles of capitalist oppression! Do nothing! Lie around! Sponge off those foolish enough to keep working!

Now that my friends is the real victory for the people...

It's a difficult one... the other day I was reading an article by John Pilger on globalisation that had me boiling with anger... but want to do about it? Writing to MP? yeah, right...

I should get involved in local politics but my local patch is so corrupt it seems unlikely that one person could make a difference.

What really stoped the poll-tax was not the riots and the fact that larges numbers did not pay, which did help, but most importantly it was fact that is was the most visible final act of Thatcherism. It was obvious to all by that time that she would loose the Tories the next election so it was time for the men in grey suits to cart her away.

The fact that so many people who would have voted for Labour (old style)had, to avoid the poll tax, had not registered to vote allowed the galloping Major another four years.

So I just try and work the system and keep my head above water...

"If this does not reflect your views
you should understand,
Those who own the papers
also own this land
They would rather you believed in Coronation Street capers,
In the war of circulation it sells newspapers.
Can it be an infringement on the freedom of the press
Not to print pictures of women in states of undress?"

"When you wake up to the fact that your paper is Tory,
Just remember, there are two sides to every story."
