What's the deal with long running girls comic 'Misty' ?! I hadn't realised its apparently been going about as long as the Galaxy's greatest and early issues are much sought after.
Anyway I'm not a collector as such but I like to read good stories - are there any series that were particularly good that I should look out for ? What sort of thing were they about ? Did Wagner/Mills/GFD write any stuff for them ??

Found it on the web a bit back... I've no memory of it, not being a girl but it apprently ran from 4th Feb 1978 - 12th Jan 1980

It's still not going surely?

I've seen issues going for quite a bit on e-bay, I'm interested in reading any quirky stories and a supernatural comic sounds pretty cool.

I agree marbles, not a collector, but I guess you have to be to be willing to fork out for these things!

Good luck finding some.

What we need is a reprint comic for all this stuff, that way collectors can collect and everyone else can just read the stories (and probably bump up prices too!)... blah blah blah... comics international letter... etc.  blah blah blah.

Oddboy

Running for 101 issues between the 4th February 1978 and the 12th January 1980

...

Now 25 years since the launch of that very first issue, Misty returns to us to present a retrospective look at the comic which not only appealed to the age range outside of the targeted audience, but also to the males of the species. To celebrate this, each issue will be printed in FULL, 25 years on from the original date of publication.

No def not going as long as tooth... 101 issues I think.

There's loads of stories on that web site... not had chance to look at many.

Yeh its not still running - my mistake - fooled by the form of words on a misty fansite.

btw the next uk pulp sci-fi & comics mart is on sunday 18th May - best place to find old uk comics in my experience. usually pretty cheap too - better than ebay.

Hey guys
Noticed a few referals from 2000ad back to http:/www.mistycomic.co.uk which i produce.

Indeed the comic was initially launched at a similar time to 2000ad (4 Feb 1978)and ran for 101 issues before merging with Tammy on the 19th Jan 1980. The comic spawned 3 specials, 8 annuals and an 8 issue reprint title in 1986.

I was a collector 25 yrs ago and found that no detailed information could be found on the web so I set about to put something out there.

The site is still in development and the initial idea is to reprint each issue 25 years on from the original date of publication. These issues can be read online or downloadable as a pdf document.

Trying to gather more information on the writers and creators, so if anyone can help it would be appreciated. I can be contacted at misty@mistycomic.co.uk.

Thanks for the interest...

Fabulous! There goes the rest of my day.

I always thought it would be an excellent idea for there to be a repository of British comics on the internet. One could wallow in Topper and Buster etc for a yearly fee. A logistical and financial impossibility perhaps, but I can dream.

Thanks for the heads up on your excellent site, Misty.

Brilliant!  My sister used to get Misty- but I probably read it more than she ever did- pretty sure she has all the old annuals somewhere too...
