...Has died. I just thought that the man who gave his name to the place where Dredd and Orlock had their famous showdown, should get a mention on his passing.

Oh dearie me,
Now to show my age cos I know this off the top of my head: Buddy Ebsen played Jed Clampett (the head honcho ) in the 1950s(?) TV series - The Beverely Hillbillies

They were the poor rednecks that found oil on their ranch and became millionaires but couldn't adjust (they still wore all the old clothes etc etc). Quite funny in its time.

Blimey, I thought Buddy Ebsen snuffed it ages ago.

He was first choice for the Tin Man in Wizard of Oz, but the silver make up hospitalised him. He went on to be "old man Jed, a poor mountaineer barely kept his family fed.." Clampett and Barnaby Jones on TV.

Weeee Doggie, he certainly had a good innings.

RIP.

Let me tell you all a story of a man named Jed,
A poor ole mountaineer, barely kept his family fed;
Then one day he was shootin' at some food,
An' up from the ground came a bubblin' crude.

Oil that is,
Black Gold,
Texas tea.

The rest goes on....

When I was a kid I LOVED the beverley Hillbillies.
